Yeah, the black slaves haunting him definitely holds weight. I didn't consider or realise that before. Same as that the big tree likely signifies the trees black people were hung from. Also, that man with the words mirrored on his shirt was a touch that went over my head as well.
We all need multiple rewatches to catch everything
I’m saying bro, I’m tryna find a YouTube channel or blog that breaks down these episodes cus there’s always s*** that I miss too.
The “truth in the mirror” definitely flew over my head.
this is shaping up to be some of the finest tv that ive watched in a long time. looking back at how we had to wait 3 to 4 years and are now getting this it really doesn't seem like much but rather so so so worth it
there's sooo much unprocessed drama in this world, historically and personally, that someone being able to present this for a big audience is to say the least commendable
and yeah I always preferred the plot side of atlanta, although I appreciate all the random episodes and distinctly remember people praising B.A.N. as the funniest episode in the show looking forward to more in-universe stuff like this
Peele got that covered. This is what Donald wants to do and is also Twilight Zone esque already
Been like that from day 1. The Nutella nigga on the bus. The weird random nigga in the Batman mask. Etc.
Do some of you realise that you're just 'upset' with the show because it's not conforming to the idea that you've put in your head of what it should be? Your attachment to your illusory idea is robbing you of the enjoyment you could've had, had you just chosen to sit and deal with what it actually is presenting itself to be, rather than what you want it to be.
Not trying to attack anyone btw. It's just that I'm clearly seeing this being their greatest season so far, yet it's not reaching some people as it should. Is that really on the show though?
Sometimes you have to put the blame on the show tho bro. If not anyone can use that excuse and be like “oh y’all saying it’s wack just because you don’t get it and had false expectations”
I guess the real question is when is blame placed on the consumer and when is it placed on the creator?
This is good but not better than 2. Hell no.
Ima wait til the full season is out but so far nothing has touched Barbershop, Woods and Teddy.

ight ima rant real quick cuz this one of my fav shows of all time
why donald glover gota shove these random unnecessary social commentary episodes into the show? i f*** with them honestly but they got nothing to do with the actual plot of atlanta
im watching this s*** cuz i love the main characters but these episodes bring nothing to the overall narrative
episode 2 & 3 were perfect but 1 & 4 felt like a waste of my time
It actually brings everything to the overall narrative. I’m curious to know what episodes do you feel brings “something” to the narrative?
at this point I no joke wonder if people are actually disappointed or if it hits them too close for comfort and they're trying to dismiss it as the show becoming worse
If anyone thinks this show is about the rap career of paperboy I need to ask “Do y’all really watch the show or skim through it”
I’m honestly thinking some of y’all might be busy playing on ya phone while watching because the “rap career” plot has always been wayyyyy in the background and not the main narrative. This show has ALWAYS been theme heavy and a deep dive character study on the black experience.
I truly think some of y’all haven’t understood the point of this show from day 1.
I thought that’s what confirmed this episode wasn’t real either or the first one
So episode 1 & 4 are Earns dreams
Earn related to Shaniqua
and yeah I always preferred the plot side of atlanta, although I appreciate all the random episodes and distinctly remember people praising B.A.N. as the funniest episode in the show looking forward to more in-universe stuff like this
Not sure if you’re saying BAN is a random episode but if so I don’t see how? It ties in with Paperboys rap career plot

ones that dont exclude the main characters
Not sure if you’re saying BAN is a random episode but if so I don’t see how? It ties in with Paperboys rap career plot
it does but iirc it was the first episode in the show not entirely about the characters but rather about the world around them
ones that dont exclude the main characters
I don’t like the main characters being MIA either but if that’s your complaint then it doesn’t add up to “it doesn’t fit the narrative”
Cus the narrative has always been about black themes, which episodes 1 & 3 represent.
it does but iirc it was the first episode in the show not entirely about the characters but rather about the world around them
I feel it’s both. This gave us insight to Paperboys mindset on how he feels on certain topics and how the media perceives him as a upcoming rap star
Ima wait til the full season is out but so far nothing has touched Barbershop, Woods and Teddy.
Nothing even on par with Alligator Man
Been like that from day 1. The Nutella nigga on the bus. The weird random nigga in the Batman mask. Etc.
Niggas exposing themselves as surface-watchers
