FASFA never f***ed with me, that's why I had to drop out my freshman year honestly
Wym.
bingo, which deepens my lack of hope to be honest because i experienced it first hand after requesting assistance for years

Sending love to you my bro but trust in yourself, you got this. You got a lot of good advice in here pick 2-3 things and head in that direction
get some bread somehow thats gotta be priority 1 imo...after that u really just gotta throw yourself into the world. idk if that's good advice in new york cus new york huge as s*** but in my city im just going to play pick up volleyball n badmitten n s*** at the gym and getting to know ppl there cus i also am tryn come outta my isolated shell
gotta get back into hobbies and struggle thru the awkward 1st encounter moments first. just stay w it cus it does work out over time. but also money a bit more important than even that imo. even if u workin smthn lame or smthn it's smthn
this accounts trolls a lot but ill take this post with a grain of salt
thanks
He’s right tho.
I feel your pain. Been there’s it’ll pass brother.
Might have to look for a job you might not want to stack up. Amazon or sumn

i took one of these tests and it said i’m above the threshold for neurotypicals
if you really are then you should adjust your mindset to take advantage of the benefits while keeping in mind the drawbacks instead of just viewing it as one big negative
ex: things like tapping into your ability to focus and excel using habits more than neurotypical people
different for everyone though ofc. being a high functioning autistic person really isnt a negative thing like people think, it's just different and you have to learn about your differences and not let the negatives control you

im aware of that, my issue is knowing that my strengths are also my weaknesses
like my hyper fixation on attention to detail or jumping from thought to thought
that sounds mega tough bro
but ur gonna make it
you got ktt on your side
you already got heaps of mfs tryna give you advice imma try and keep it short and just say love yourself right now and forevermore, through thick and thin. you hard stuck with yourself so be a good person to be stuck with, don't make your situation appear worse than it is, always have your own back and always get back up and take that one next step, keep it simple and keep it moving slow and steady like

just sounds like something you have to balance around. not trying to be on bootstraps s*** or anything but just try not to let yourself fall in the trap. which is also another habit-type thing that might be harder to break for autistic people, i feel like it can be easy to get stuck in the hole
i wish there was but the only thing out here like that is Allied Security and a few temp agencies, but again they mostly send you to Allied Security and everyone that works there is a low life, not even exaggerating
haha i know a friend that works there but only as a side ting
hope you be aight though, op. 25 is still young you can go learn a skill like cybersecurity and join social events/camps and meet ppl. judging by your vlogs you seem into music so i'd create connects there

You’re a 25 year old young man in New York City bruh you’ll be alright. We all go through rough times like this. Keep your head up and your eyes out for the next opportunity, even if it’s an undesirable one, you never know what may come of it.
The storm doesn’t last forever. @op
You’re only 25 OP, I highly suggest you pick up some shifts tending bar or waiting tables while you still have youth to cling to. It gets you out of the house, talking to people and the city is never gonna run out of bars/restaurants/venues. You’re leaving work with money in your pocket every night. Free meals too
Plus if you work at a place that hosts bands, you’ve got a free concert every night. Distract yourself with concerts, very vital to one’s mental health IMO
Park Slope Center for Mental Health provides free psychotherapy (at least, it used to - haven’t been in several years) and may be able to provide an assessment/informed opinion about what you’re feeling
As a 30 y/o autist in the city who still feels like this sometimes despite a job,I’m the Jacob Marley of this thread and I’ve come back to tell you that better living is possible if you start today but ONLY if you start today
The changes can’t wait! Don’t let it fester any longer
NY posters are good people btw, very friendly folks. Go to a KTT artists show and you’re bound to meet someone you share interests with
i ain’t in nyc or a big metro but this is actually very helpful to me on how to get out more
i don’t think im autistic either but my psych recommended me to get a neurodivergence test done

You are going to be fine, and you will make it through this.
If you can; start exercising to get your endorphins flowing & getting those positive vibes flowing into your brain
You can find plenty of jobs, you just need to start applying via Indeed. Start thinking about all the positive things you bring to the table, as a person, and that will naturally come out during your interviews. Exercising will help your brain to think more optimistically. It costs nothing to run or do push ups & sit ups.
If you want a book on Autism Spectrum Disorder, where you can learn about all the strengths that come with it, let me know. You hold more power than you realize, your brain just processes things differently.
Lastly, you are only 25. Your 20s has a lot of peaks & valleys, and right now, you’re in the valley. Hang in there. It will get better, friend
at 25 (2020) I was also unemployed (for like the umpteenth time), COVID money all went to a new car, so I was broke, then by 26 I was fired from the job I had returned to. Whole family had pretty much lost hope for me by this point lmao (I was the very definition of a NEET).
But in that moment I had a mental awakening. I actually went straight to a temp agency that same day and set my self up with a factory job (despite hating the idea of working in a factory) starting the following Monday. I will admit, I told them specifically I've heard about the horrors of factory work, I don't want some hard, boring, back breaking s***, and they were like "We got you
" and put me in a pretty chill assembly position. (I actually got to mess with a cutie with a booty there
but she was crazy
)
Shortly after, I decided I was gonna go back to school for the 4TH TIME that Fall, studying IT.
The strangest thing is that the factory job that I was dreading so much actually became one of my most memorable and fun jobs I've ever had. So much so that the Manager of Production was tearing up when I put in my two week notice to start a new IT job with a (swindling ass) managed service provider.
Fast forward to last December, I get myself fired from there (lol, it was a tactical move, trust me, got unemployment, plus the boss was a horrible scam artist that wasn't letting me learn anything)
Now, I'm working in the chillest job I've had YET as an IT Support Specialist at a small company. And trust me, I'm not letting this one go. The amount of knowledge and experience I've learned from this job has certified me as an IT professional, I don't just have my 'foot in the door', I've got my whole body through it, and I'm standing at the entrance. And in a few weeks, they'll be paying for me to study and attain AWS certifications.
And after that, they're talking about expanding my responsibilities and giving me a manager position.
By no means have "I made it" yet (between you and me, I'm probably like 1 or 2 good f*** ups from being right back at square one), but seeing the 'fruits' of my labor start to sprout right before my eyes (something I didn't even believe in at first) has made me determined to keep it pushing no matter what.
I heard this classic Nipsey quote not too long ago and thought it was something that many of us could relate to:
"That's why I called my thing The Marathon
Because I, I'm not gon' lie and portray
Um, this ultimate poise, like I been had it figured out
Nah, I just didn't quit
That's the only distinguishing quality
From me and probably whoever else is goin' through this
Or went through this, or is gonna go through this
Is that I ain't quit
I went through every emotion
I went through every emotion with tryna pursue what I'm doing
You know what I mean?
And I think that what, what's gon' separate
Whoever's gon' try to go for something
Is that you ain't gon' quit"
That's not a fairy tale, that's real. And it applies to any kind of adversity you can think of. Find your skill that you enjoy, find out how it makes money (whether from entrepreneurship or if it's a specialized blue collar field), study it, and run with it, no matter what. Even if they tell you that you suck ass, even if you're not the best student in the class, don't ever quit.
And guess what, employers respect the F*** out of people that are looking for a full time gig while taking classes, yes that means probably online or night classes, but those classes are easier anyway.
ok this hard
