im not "turning" on you. im saying its a nuance to wat we can expect from an artist whos shown time n again to have an elongated creative process. and bruh onna last page transposing his own grieving experience onto another person as if its an exact 1-to-1 science or the idea of painting everyone who suggests being patient w frank's output as the coddling types rather than simply refusing to feel like they're owed music is just.. disingenuous
Frank the only artist where ppl are PISSED at fans for wanting physical copies of his music
can you name another "active" artist who has not released an album in a decade but still repromotes/sells the same 10 year old album? not even a gotcha I literally cant think of one and I think thats a s***ty model for artists
ultimately if people buy it then its "working" but its still wack imo

It's just a product to me, I support the free market, if niggas are gonna buy it, sell it
I've been buying a bunch of the same s*** for 10+ years
That's one of the perks of dropping a classic
its not like chance can make any money repressing the big day
He hasn’t been indicating the album is close . He has shown he is working on it but he is a human being not just content or product that was the literal point of endless
Nigga shut that s*** up
You didnt make blonde, nobody gives a s*** about you being a top performer at your f***in job
He hasn’t been indicating the album is close . He has shown he is working on it but he is a human being not just content or product that was the literal point of endless
at this point i doubt he's working on an actual album. i think he just makes music you know? i feel like with an artist like frank who at least somewhat reflect the times he lives in you can't really take this long to make it and then be satisfied with it like five years later. you're a completely different person at that point. that might have been more possible when you're your 20s, in his case making blonde, and what little we have of that album's development we can see just how much that one changed over the four years.
and at the same time, if i were him i wouldn't wanna drop music in this climate either. i used to really want his perspective on things like when i was a teenager, but now im like what the hell would he know? he's probably just as lost as we all are, especially as out of touch as he is with the average human condition these days.
relic of the early 2010s blog days
Frank is only recently beginning to fade from the zeitgeist, and if he returns he’ll be odysseus of the music world. Incorrect take

I guess where I disagree is the crux of the idea the fans who want music and want to talk about it think they are "owed" it. I almost never see this actual sentiment among anybody outside of frustrated jokes. and i'm sorry but they are absolutely coddling him to act like we can't do anything based off his grief when he himself has never stated it, alluded to it or anything otherwise. instead, he said he's working on an album, gave payton a snippet of new music for his doc a year ago and posts pics of him in a studio. we're allowed to treat him like a musician and talk about wanting new music.

you think he's finally fading huh? what makes you think that's happening now after all these years? serious question
I do hope Frank eventually returns with an album. He is one of my favorite artists ever and I miss him dearly.

yea only like this year I've felt it too lol

Serious question? I think that’s exactly what he wants and thats fine. He is a relic of 2010s blog culture, while also having an all-timer classic, features on impactful classics, a defining moment of streaming culture with Blonded, influence and clones occupying his space for a whole decade and never being usurped, and he technically has one of the best songs of the 2020s with Dear April
Dude is stamped lol

that age old adage about truth being behind every joke
i dont think these types of threads/subreddits/etc would remain alive if most of us didnt feel like there's more otw and we ought to hear it simply bc we're fans
and like i said, iont deny that there are fans who constantly bring up ryan as a token to shutdown to the pleas and cries. in some ways that's wrong.. and in some ways i dont blame them. nonBlack people dont take Black death nearly as serious as it is, id say the majority of casual frank fans dont even know that happened or care and grief isnt just a 1 & done "oh its been 3 years, im completely ight to make music for consumption now" thing -- or at least not for everyone
so if frank is ready and public about creating music like you say, that's fine but i also have to reconcile that with knowing he's a person who may or may not feel the pang of losing their younger brother at any given moment
and again, those who coddle V defend an artist's right to mull over their work, aren't necessarily the same people. that's the disconnect im tb there
wat really helped me was seeing someone say something to the effect of "real fans are completely fine with never hearing anything from their favorite artists ever again"
and maybe when u hear that it sounds f***ing stupid.. but i think about some of my favorites who've died and never got to release anything again. or seeing people clamor for more and dont spend every second really sitting with the work that's already been put out... blonde came out 10 years ago and im still pulling from it, still feeling new things, still eternally grateful for how it might've changed me in ways i dont understand
thats all im saying. appreciate what's there, be pleasantly surprised for whatever's next - if anything.
