Is OP that Popeyes chicken sandwich poster?
Edit: I’ve since come around on this album a lot. See my post on p.4
Let me know if any of you guys can relate.
I think Yeezus was Kanye’s last hard LP because he wasn’t pretending like he gave a s*** about anything other than his image. TLOP, Ye, KSG, Jik are filled with empty platitudes, fake woke, and now Jesus-parroting lyrics.
Is it obvious to anybody else that Kanye hasn’t changed one bit? He still only cares about his image, but now he’s coating it with this “I care more about black people than you do” saintly BS!
I used to feel empowered listening to Kanye because I thought wow, this guy really knows he’s the s***! I know that part of me gravitated towards him because the critics loved him, and I wanted to be thought of in that way. I wanted people to think I was a genius, some miraculous talent that couldn’t be understood. I identified with him so hard that today I can’t even watch his new interviews. I still have a hard time separating myself from what I thought reality was.
It just seems like I’ve outgrown Kanye. It doesn’t even feel right to bash him because I’ve seen through that fake image bullshit.
I didnt like 808s and yeezus when it came out

Idk it’s just Ye. The album dis just come out. It has grown more and more on me. But I knew Ye wasn’t washed after KSG dropped. That album isn’t filler at all lol. JIK hits for me because I grew up on gospel and soul so certain things stand out on this album to me. I feel like overall it could be a 6/10
what you think about the album
A lot of good ideas that arent fleshed out. Most songs are too short and sound empty. Sounds like a great beginning, not a finished album imo. I prefer it over Ye but its top 2 worst Kanye project for me. Hbu?

Dont listen then? You're posting on a board dedicated to an artist asking "Hey guys I hate this artists new work does anyone feel the same????"
No.
Listened to the first 3-4 out of curiosity, the production is generally nice, but I end up tuning out the lyrics altogether. Probably won’t bother listening to the entire thing. S*** might be good if you’re religious, otherwise it’s just pretty sounding noise
I can see how it looks fake but I feel like this is what born again kanye would genuinely act like
the culture was his god.. and yall praise the culture.. now that he doesnt spread the word of culture, the most lost souls cant relate with his music anymore, but a lot of people are woke enough to understand the concept here even tho they still follow the culture (sex, money, fashion, fame, crime, social media etc), the same culture that is controlled by.. hmm. i'm trying to convert myself now, cant lie.. i have bigger things to accomplish here and i realized today, that i'm on right path already (started my business in clothing over a year ago, which is only the beginning in my vision) and without realizing it before, I always had hate and love relationship with the culture, that's why i probably stayed on a right path somehow (like Ye, culture was his god but he never forget the real god, that can be one of the reasons related to his mental health). people find it hard to be themselves. now he found his god and maybe you guys should find your inner self/peace/god also and not let the culture dictate your life and actions? just know, following the culture, you are not controlling your own mind
"People are coming for the music but they may leave with salvation"

not sure yet but besides one or two tracks i really like (On God, maybe Selah) i dont see it growing on me. as you said lots of great ideas but they weren't implemented well and to me it's even worse than Ye. its not even about the religious themes or the "bad" mixing (which can serve a purpose sometimes), most of the songs are just not good lol. and it's saddening to see ye stans trying to chalk the reception up this album has been getting to s*** that has nothing to do with the music itself bc which is just terrible, just like they did Ye (people didnt "hate" the album bc of the politics, its just a bad album)
idk what this man been doing since Yeezus, i wasnt a huge fan of TLOP but i could still see where he was coming from and it was very ambitious project nonetheless (and most likely his last good album). with Ye it was very clear he was completely lost, KSG was mid at best despite what the press and the fans are trying to say. this album just confirms he's washed up.
what i fear is that albums that get this sort of reception/backlash tend to become "cult classics" and so in the future we'll prolly see a lot of godawful music inspired by this piece of trash

preach brother. i hate the fact that kanye stans try to act like people dont like it because of the theme or god lyrics, no it just doesnt sound good fam lmao. its lazy asf. ultra light beam was about god too and that song is damn near 10/10, none of this comes even close
Same
TLOP was the last time Kanye made anything worth listening to
Dissapointed how much he's fallen off
Imo his political stuff is right 100%. The blind trust in liberalism and democracy is dangerous and absolutely harming the country. His music just sucks now is all.
It’s wild cause I feel the exact opposite. What draws me to it the most is how genuine it sounds, especially seeing as the year he dropped the album that you’re comparing it to in OP; he talked about how badly he wanted to make an album like Jesus is King.

Good riddance
He obviously going through it.
And this album wasn’t for us, it was for him.
It ain't really for him either. Like how is him talking about Jesus going to actually help him with his problems? If he actually has had some spiritual enlightenment this album ain't it.
How the f*** is your Avi not getting you banned yet?
What was the avi I missed it

2010/11: “I saw the devil” “hell of a life” “what’s a god to a nonbeliever”
2019: JESUS IS KING
