there are academic studies that show that black people are no more likely to be killed by police than white people when you control for situational variables and police encounters per capita, so forgive me if I’m hesitant to believe every academic study. also academia and studies on social phenomena aren’t the same as actual scientific studies with hard and fast rules like chemistry and physics. consensus is often changing. banning edgy humor on politically neutral websites (or on left wing websites) would be a gift to the alt right because then even more people would just go to alt right sites which welcome and reward that humor

kinda furthers my point considering 2013 is right around the time everything became “problematic” and everyone was personally responsible for the edgiest / dumbest thing they’d ever said on the internet no matter how much time had passed since.

Also when the “it’s not my job to educate you” attitude took off. I guess those people found folks who were willing to educate them. Just turned out it was folks who flirted with beliefs like your cranium size and skin color determining your intellect. Kinda sounds like the solution is to be more inclusive and less exclusive
