I love Idler Wheel a lot but I feel like Bolt Cutters is definitely her best work. To me, each of her albums up until now have felt like they started from a clean slate.

But here, I keep noticing elements of her first 4 albums combined with new ones that make this feel next-level. It's like this 5th album is a sequel to her first four.

And maybe it's cause I'm at a specific point in my life right now but her lyrics are hitting me like a pile of bricks. I don't think I've ever related this much to her songs

Idler is great but that wasn't even my favorite. And even though I've loved her before I never connected with a Fiona album so strongly, it's early to say but I'm pretty confident it'll end up my fav.

It feels like everything I loved about her music condensed and brought out even clearer and stronger

She wanted to re-record Extraordinary Machine and move on from Brion. The label pissed her off when they told her she'd have to do it one-by-one and send each song to them for approval so she stopped altogether.

Fans found out and protested in front Sony's building. She decides to try again but only if the label f***s off and ever since then it seems like she's able to do things the way she wants and on her own schedule.
