You should play the OG though mostly because its just a beautiful game that everyone should play at least once

I was really trying to figure out was the fit system the biggest improvement to the combat (minor things like triple links aside) but I realized this is the natural progression to this style and that the fits are about to be deep with their skill trees. I can’t think of anything that would’ve been as close to revolutionizing it more. Im excited. Also im pretty sure skins can be unlocked outside the fits which is awesome.

VII Remake is my first FF game and I'm ngl, I'm not feeling it much Don't think I've ever experienced a game I think is good but also just feel like I hate playing it like I do Remake

The game just DRAGS everything out. It feels like you're playing a 20 hour experience that's been stretched out to 30+ hours. Last night I got a side quest in Chapter 14 and it was the same side quest I got in like Chapter 9 You are constantly running back and forth across the same maps, think I just unlocked a fast travel option for the first time (chapter 14 of 18)

Even the cutscenes feel like they're d*** out. There's a fast forward button for cutscenes and I'm constantly tapping it because everything just happens so slowly. Before literally almost every sentence, there's a few seconds where the camera just focuses on the character's face/environment or characters just grunt/sigh and pause for a few seconds before speaking

I never played the og, so Idk how true this is, but it actually feels like a small portion of a game they stretched out so they could sell 3 separate games. Worth checking out for free on Plus but I would've been upset if I didn't get this for free/cheap

I tried to play remake once on PS5 but figured for a steam sale I could try because I like the the aesthetics and want to try the gameplay but yeah my concern is the stuff you are talking about. Games with a certain amount of back tracking or drawn out cutscenes lose me because my backlog is long lol
