The failure of communist regimes to completely abolish sexism would only mean we need to go even further in our efforts

"Instead of starting a dialogue on how capitalism may oppress women you when Mamba brought that up you reached for the bottom of the barrel and asked "how many female communist heads of state have there been" as if that is the metric for a society uplifting woman. And then you went on to mock his well thought out response and then post a canned list of female leaders from all over the world, not all of which were heading capitalist societies even!"

If you knew anthing, you'd know that it would just be another capitalism vs communism discussion. Scratch is a communist. You know that.

"It would be like me saying Margaret Thatcher illegally funding paramilitary death squads in Northern Ireland is enough evidence to say that no female capitalist leader has even been effective and they should all be canned because they're manipulative and irrational."

No, my point was capitalist countries have female leaders while communist societies don't have a single one.

"But that would be an insane position to argue! Yet the reverse is what you attempted to do by saying there have been no female communist leaders. Truly "gotcha" style discussion lacking any substance or depth."

Capitalism is the best of all evils, that is my opinion, and you're entitled to your own. if you ever discussed anthing or just showed some respect to any of the people discussion s***, you'd just get a honest response of what we're trying to tell.

"You can say that you want to have a real discussion all you want, but your comments speak for themselves."

Not really, people who know me know I never demonize anyone and actually listen. Do you give me that same treatment?

    "I'm having a wonderful day"

    nice, I like that!

You mean the treatment where you start off insulting my intelligence.

No, my point was capitalist countries have female leaders while communist societies don't have a single one.

Yes, but the point is that that is not a good metric of whether or not an economic system is beneficial for everyone or not. You're throwing around a red herring like it's an ace card that will win you the game.

Nice subtle diss with "if you ever" and then slid in the "showed some respect". Maybe you get what you give

Anyway, by many metrics a democratic socialist economic system with a strong social safety net is best for the people. That's unfortunately not an opinion.

Not really, people who know me know I never demonize anyone and actually listen. Do you give me that same treatment?

Well since neither of us are giving each other a nice treatment I'd say we're at an impasse. Who will be first to extend an olive branch

It's besides the point of if women have been in any power in communist states.

That doesn't negate that sexism and capitalism are tied and both need to be abolished.

don't intend to be patronizing but i don't know if @Odeon is even aware that asking whether there have been any "undisputed female leaders" in communist states (and the discussion about whether that matters) is a lil counterproductive

    It's always like

"Capitalism is responsible for _, , and ____, and deserved to be criticized for it."

    "But what about the communists?"

It's like okay we can talk about that too but isn't even a relevant rebuttal to the fact that capitalism perpetrates the problems

Those issues need to be addressed overall and not just when one thing u prefer gets called out imo

  • Aug 11, 2020

A lot of communist leaders did disappoint in addressing sexism (and racism) though.

I wouldn't chalk that up to communisms fault that they were lacking.

Black women's extremely negative relationship to the American political system (a system of
white male rule) has always been determined by our membership in two oppressed racial and sexual castes.

Another short excerpt explaining the concept from the point of view of black women and how they occupy a certain intersectional status that affords them less privilege than white men (who occupy two privileged statuses), for one example

The Combahee River Collective, a path-breaking group of radical black feminists, was one of the most important organizations to develop out of the antiracist and women's liberation movements of the 1960s and 70s. In this collection of essays and interviews edited by activist-scholar Keeanga-Yamahtta Taylor, founding members of the organization and contemporary activists reflect on the legacy of its contributions to Black feminism and its impact on today's struggles.

it was more of a sidetrack for my own amusement because of previous discussions in this sxn. If change needs to come, I prefer to bring effort for change in real life, online is just entertainment, in short I just really like argueing against users in this sxn even tho it will presumably never accomplish anthing
