Oh year nah you right i dont think I saw any OGs wear it tbh maybe like early 20s. Ralph was def huge in NY/Jersey then. Rugbys need to make a comeback

Ralph trying hard as hell to get their premium image back. I remember a Polo costing $75-$80 bucks back then and thinking they were expensive. Now them s***s $110,idk what happened in the mid 2010s but,the brand just started doing way too many discounts and tainted their image for no reason.

Now their raising prices and bringing the classic tag back, hell,I've been buying some Polo pieces just cause of the classic tag lol.

I haven't even been paying attention to Ralph in recent years because of that but Im thinking of going archive diggin for some older pieces. I gotta tap in to see what they are droppin now.

Maybe recency bias but I feel like sambas are entering that Jordan 1, chuck taylor category of staples relevant in every era.

They've been timeless shoes forever, just a tier below the shoes you listed but that's the top of the top when it comes to that

All the recent conversation around them been stupid ASF because of that, it's just people trying to make it seem like they're above some 'trendy' shoes

It’s funny I remember people were knocking Jerry Lorenzo back then too for “riding the wave”, if you’re not the first person to wear it you may as well be last to a lot of people

I know a lot of people say differently on here but I don’t find my GATs particularly comfortable either, especially if I’m wearing them all day. I think the leather they’re made of just make my feet way too hot over long periods of wear versus sambas which are originally an athletic shoe so are more breathable.

there are a couple mail orders that will ship those Puma's to North America now... the original original GAT was made by Adidas or Puma depending on contract anyway so it's not like one is inferior or superior to the other,

  • Jul 30, 2023

I beat the hell out of my Margiela's and replaced them with Adidas sambas/gazelles whatever, they wear and feel the same so the brand doesn't matter, good slim shoe perfect for walking on concrete and light outdoorsy stuff

The Bear wardrobe department got to be trolling bro. They’ll have a 14 year old dishwasher making $3 an hour rocking a $700 shirt and socks made of wolly mammoth fur.
