I don't think it is as big of a deal as people think it is as long as you're not directly calling somebody with a mental disability. It was weird. The first half felt like a Tark movie then the climax felt like something Rob Zombie would direct only with real Nazi atrocities instead of hillbillies. I get the director was going for a trippy fever dream atmosphere but I wasn't feeling it. That kid acted his ass off though.
