He didn't really get a pass lol just got banned from performing in England and France. Still has alot of fans because he's still dropping some pretty good music.

Yeah but being dropped/banned is still huge PR. She wouldn't even be touched by those festivals to begin with. But yeah he's definitely more of a cultural presence than her by far, she never really crossed over.

I would say Ye's critical acclaim from 04-18, success, popularity, global scale, fashion etc etc all kinda made it harder for many people to accept that he was losing his marbles year by year. MIA acclaim and global impact wasn't as large. Although MAYA and Matangi have rightfully been re-acclaimed, they weren't successful with critics and she pretty much went off the radar with the general public post-"Bad Girls". And although she's had some questionable opinions, nothing anywhere close to the scale of Ye's countless Twitter meltdowns and rants.

Yep totally different levels of fame. But Kanye went full Nazi (lol) and has people popping off cause he's getting banned and s***. All of it's ridiculous. Not saying she doesn't deserve her s*** either she's a dumbass. Kanye defense brigade are absolute clowns though.

The 'new' era of Ye fans are absolutely the worst fanbase in modern music. I understand many just want good music but the amount of vitriol from Ye fans on Twitter I've seen aimed at groups/people opposing/criticizing all the BS he's done is awful.
It's good that he's trying to make amends but the fans are pricks about it. They think one Wall Street journal is supposed to fix everything

@Aruji thoughts on JIK being Ye's most depressing album ?
i know it has alot of 'uplifting' music but imo the man behind the music sounds broken, depressed and manic throughout using religion to try to hold himself together.
On 'God Is' , the lyric "Jesus saved me , now I'm sane" kinda exemplifies this struggle within himself really well. Plus the music is just really beautiful throughout.It is extremely flawed with some pretty surface level religious mumbo jumbo lyrics, I do think it's a bit over-hated overall . I might put it on DONDA level which I think obviously has higher highs but way too much filler and guest features (2021 Kanye imo is not good enough to make 120 minutes of great music).

Maybe I've just been around and dated too many bipolar girls for me to find it appealing. It's like PTSD
