Now that i brought up suede, i do think they peaked with animal nitrate and i like debut and coming up more than dog man star and think generally their best form is populist pub singalongs
Same except Pantomime Horse which blows away anything else they did later. The have a ton of great songs though.
mastapiece
that book any good?
Its fine. Its like a lot of music books where itll describe a scene, describe the bands, describe the people in the bands and move on. Its more of a survey, like the contortiond were.... 3 pages, lydia lunch was....3 pages, pere ubu were....3 pages. Its good if u want an overview
interesting
guess they didnt nail the Kinks sons thing for you
That comparison worked against them for me
Best music books are imo -
our band could be your life by michael azerrad
High fidelity by nick hornby (lol)
The peter guralnick elvis books
Bass culture by lloyd bradley
These are the ones that stand out to me but i havent read a ton

My pops has good music taste tho
Belle and sebastian and post 99 lips were massive favorites in my parents car when i was a yout
so how highly do yall ITT rate Blur in the grand scheme of things
@suzuki @demo @Elric @Fella
They have a more consistent quality discography than some of the other Britpop bands, but I really only tend to go back to some stand out tracks. Something like Beetlebum is pretty incredible.
One neil diamond thing is how the red sox sing sweet caroline
Like to me when i was a kid and s*** neil diamond was new york, but this was before i came to america, just listening to him through my parents
Like i associate neil diamond with new york as much as i associate paul simon and lou reed
So the sweet caroline red sox thing was always odd to me

There is no next one
listening to the white album again just makes me realize that I vastly prefer this era of McCartney to Lennon's. Paul had such a clarity and others were holding him back venturing too much into camp.
