Neil sounds like an old soul whose voice cracks and creaks like an old house in the wind with high harmonies that tap into the same realm as Brian Wilson and the Everlys. typical emo singers sound like whiney teenagers and lean into the dweeby nasal yearning thats absolutely devoid of any sort of feeling I can relate to. I know the best ones dont necessarily fit this description but its the hardest thing for to get into.
