he was deeper into the music in the late 60s for sure but imo you can see his self consciousness creeping in. as far as performing he was never more comfortable in his skin tan he was in '56-'57

It was his first shows after 7 years, iirc. Still very good stuff. The first sit down and stand up shows were perfect. I watch them more than the actual special.
