Were you a fan of Flannery O'connor? Not sure If I remember posting this but I'm a big fan of Joyce Carol Oates, who is really similar to O'Connor in some ways. If you've ever read A Good Man Is Hard To Find by O'Connor, this short story by Oates is really similar and one of my favorites ever. Not necessarily Southern Gothic but similar in a lot of other ways.

Sent it to my mom yesterday. Was just thinking of it cuz it was kinda inspired by this Dylan song.

(kind of an unsettling/upsetting short. not horror but really creepy in its own way)

You ever check this one (above post) out? i think you mentioned you were reading Wise Blood so you might like this short if you haven't gotten around to it. The clash between realism/surrealism in this one is really eerie/uncanny, almost dreamlike. And the villain in it takes on (very briefly) almost supernatural qualities which reminds me of Judge Holden a bit. Short fiction really slaps and there's no shortage of great stories I feel like you could spend a lifetime consuming them.

unrelated but my teacher in college introduced me to Chekhov (the goat of short fiction) and I never really went too deep into his canon. Really want to get into him this year ever since seeing this genius earth shattering scene in Drive My Car

Also, not sure if you've ever seen Once Upon a Time in Anatolia (feel like you'd dig it) but this short scene from the film is based on a Chekhov short story. Really hypnotic film. Haven't seen anything like it before.

I actually was looking for that post so broski. I read the other one you liked about that bank robbery too, good s***.
    And yea short fiction is

I'm reading Norwood by Charles Portis right now, its kinda stupid but entertaining I guess. Reminds of something The Coen Bros would have made early in their career. Main character is like the guy from Raising Arizona.

But did you read any Denis Johnson ? I got his debut Angels lined up next which should be more my style. I digged his final short story novel The Largesse of the Sea Maiden a couple years ago

Imagine states not supporting that Texas governor like I know cheap labor is one thing but the whole as long as it’s not happening in our state mentality. Uh huh

The first one was more like Hail to the Thief where it was a bunch of songs and had more of a rock edge

This one is more of an ALBUM album like A Moon Shaped Pool where everyone works together as a whole
