    Very Based

fuuuuck Monster is finally out in NY. Might have to go see it tomorrow tbh, been waiting like 6 months now. i'll probably miss the Lanthimos joint unless it's exceptionally good. lmk how it is I wasn't a huge fan of The Favourite.
The Bradley Cooper Bernstein biopic was extremely disappointing.

Do you have a letterboxd btw?

I do have a letterboxd but I only periodically update it:

The film portion of my RYM account is more reliable:

Oh and FWIW I thought Poor Things was incredible. Very, very funny with a central character that is easy to empathize with and appreciate. Her journey through personhood and the different philosophies she dips her toe into was super enjoyable. It was engaging visually as well with stylish sets and sumptuous use of color.

The scene where Bella walks out into Lisbon by herself with sunglasses on felt JUST when I walked outside during my first MDMA roll, right down to the blurriness and light sensitivity. It's not necessarily that the color was trippy so much as sensuous and euphoric. Everything in those scenes and the parts when they're looking off the boat are gorgeous. The b&w scenes looked great too but they didn't leave as strong of an impression.

To me, the overall tone was a lot different from The Favourite and it felt more modern despite the year it was set in. As a work of feminism, it definitely kicks the s*** out of Barbie, and I liked Barbie.

Added! I only add about 25% of the films i've watched to LB, but I like to use it to see what films my friends/people I know have seen. (I don't rate films but like to see ratings of people I know). I have a RYM but I only use it to log music tbh. I think LB has a much better interface and if you can sift through the bullshit top reviews it's a lot better than RYM (imo) and exponentially better than IMDB.

I know the book that it's adapted from is highly acclaimed, and been meaning to check out Alisdair Gray's other book, Lanark as well. Apparently as far as modern Scottish novelists go he's the most significant.

I'll check out Poor Things and maybe it will change my opinion on Lanthimos.

    Poor Things is feminist?

    Poor Things is feminist?

Oh, extremely. It doesn't literally use the term but it's all over the text and subtext of the film. The narrative is driven by a woman not understanding "polite society" and what is expected of her (often to comedic effect) and slowly coming to understand what womanhood means to her through her experiences with men and the expectations placed on her. She earns her agency not just through sexual liberation but also through a strong command of morality and empathy, which makes her a very balanced character.

Tbf the Jets defense has carried them to a handful of wins they probably don't deserve. Having a top 10 QB would've been a great team that probably has 10-12 wins right now with Rodgers

Also imo the Packers aren't that great of a franchise. They've only managed 2 SB's with back to back generational talents and imo neither QBs are at fault. These teams are already extremely flawed despite Rodgers playing amazing.

Ehh I’ll put a few of those last playoff losses on Rodgers. Having a cool demeanor is one thing but he really looked disinterested in the game. Still one of my fav QB’s

You're probably right and I'm definitely less into NFL than you but I also feel like Rodgers with Brady luck and management wins a similar amount

This was not only funnier than anything Jimmy Kimmel could ever came up with but the Lala Land guy's reaction mixed with Warren Beaty's was perfect haha

The Jets probably make the playoffs with Rodgers, but I don’t think that team has enough talent on offense to go on a Super Bowl run. Their O-line is still pretty bad and the receivers are meh.

  • found the old ass list I did of my favourite songs of 2016 back on ktt1 not surprised I never tried to replicate that or do song lists after, and glad I ultimately preferred the album format with a full group of participants to be way better (WAYY better). (KTT2 has been my favourite string of lists.)

anyways ladies lists due end of May

I was at my dad's over Christmas and he was just mindlessly scrolling through tik tok on his phone, and like every third video was an obviously staged argument between people on the street. I think no matter how clear it is that something is bollocks the majority of people will just believe basically everything anyone on their phone says, especially if it helps confirm an opinion that they already hold
