I can at least understand people who are super into Rush. But Dio has always seemed like such a funny one to be a big fan of lol it always sounds like a parody of that kind of music to me

Yeah, its like over the top comedy music. But I guess thats the appeal

Kinda how Dragonforce just seemed like a parody of all the turbo guitar power metal s***

I don't think I've ever known anyone that was into the jam thing. It almost feels like a scene that doesn't even exist past the 70s but apparently these bands tour a lot.

I do have one friend that went from total metalhead to mostly listening to s*** like Dio and Rush. Should've saw it coming when he started turning into a tech death nerd. And he always hated on hardcore

yeah there are still a ton of people who love it, there are bands who are almost unheard of otherwise but still play to thousands of people regularly on the jam circuit. lots of people who are into the d**** and dont care about the music so im sure therell still be some under 40 people there

didnt really exist in the same way in the 70s outside of the dead, the whole jam scene really started going and peaked in popularity in the 90s i think with s*** like Phish and Dave Matthews Band

that rabid jam fanbase really seems bottom tier tho, its like even dirtier deadheads + more white people dreadlocks and without the hippie niceness. sketchy crowd. everyone knows this archetype of person

Dio is fire but he definitely did his best stuff with Sabbath and Rainbow. and the cheesiness is part of the appeal, in that way he is one of the fathers of the power metal type stuff too

Even weirder is my brother adores the Dead but doesnt like Phish or Panic lol

One of the best thing those goofy b******s Ben & Jerry ever did was make "Phish Food" ice cream

    but yea that whole scene

Just got into the mountain goats can’t decide if I like all hail west Texas or the sunset tree more. The former has an amazing lo-fi quality while the latter has a more fully realized sound. I’m conflicted

Idk, like half the guys i hung out with in high school started going to Phish and Widespread Panic concerts like 8 times a year in college lol.

Thank god never got into jam bands like that or else i'd probably be in pics with them at those concerts looking strung out on opiates and coke wearing jesus sandals and boat clothes

Boat clothes almost wish I had it in me to be that easy going

ok yeah true actually now that im remembering some later s*** too, feel like they got jammier from the 90s on for some reason. or maybe just for a few occasions like neil ragged glory or psych pill era. i was thinking the classic 70s peak mainly and like the live rust era8

(still some jam just not the patience trying spamming 8+ minute songs)
