My mom has been visiting in LA for a few weeks and it always gives me an excuse to watch old movies. I’ve gotten her into a lot of great directors and she’s a big fan of Yasujiro Ozu and especially Eric Rohmer. Something about those ridiculous Rohmer plots with a bunch of pretty young French people trying to choose who to f*** from a crowd of other pretty young French people is always entertaining lol
Since she’s been here we’ve watched The Aviator’s Wife, A Tale of Summer and Equinox Flower. I also got her to watch some Cassavetes and also In the Mood for Love, which she was really into.
She’s been cool like that since I was in my teens though. She took me to my first concerts, Flaming Lips, Beck, Wilco, etc
Oh s*** new Godflesh
@Koala @drjdeponytail
Man it's been ages since I jammed this, what an album. Title track is an all timer
People were talkin s*** last week huh
Godflesh rules. Not a single bad album from those guys.
Tbh Im not a huge Godflesh fan but I always loved how their band name is in such a clean font :datass:

Think they split up. And that’s their best album, but everything they put out is solid

Idk, like half the guys i hung out with in high school started going to Phish and Widespread Panic concerts like 8 times a year in college lol.
Thank god never got into jam bands like that or else i'd probably be in pics with them at those concerts looking strung out on opiates and coke wearing jesus sandals and boat clothes

It was a wild transformation to see. It started with just one or two of them getting into Panic and then Phish.
Then it suddenly spread around the group like a virus and before i knew it, 9 people in my dude crew went from smoking blunts and blasting Waka Flocka on the highway, to running to the bathroom to hit bumps every 10 mins and passing out in passenger seats to 30 minute live in concert songs
And literally every single one of them started dating girls that would go to all the concerts with them and pretended extremely hard to enjoy the bands as much as the fellas. Like Allison, last week the only artists you listened to were Adele and Florida Georgia Line — you aren't fooling anybody by putting "Spreadhead and Deadhead for Life" in your instagram bio.

I don't think I've ever known anyone that was into the jam thing. It almost feels like a scene that doesn't even exist past the 70s but apparently these bands tour a lot.
I do have one friend that went from total metalhead to mostly listening to s*** like Dio and Rush. Should've saw it coming when he started turning into a tech death nerd. And he always hated on hardcore
I dig bluesy jam adjacent stuff like The Allman Brothers, but that jazzy, prog jam bullshit :keefnah:

I can at least understand people who are super into Rush. But Dio has always seemed like such a funny one to be a big fan of lol it always sounds like a parody of that kind of music to me
