Yeah, Anxious goes pretty hard. You dig Squint?
That Say Anything album you recommended is a real mixed bag. Super long and about 1/3rd of the tracks are really grating with those over the top vocal inflections combined with some of the lyrics. Some real bangers on there though. Glad I listened to it.

The bonus tracks are kinda meh, I love just the standard album though (first 13 songs)

Oh didn’t realize those were bonus tracks. That’s better. 14 and 15 really brought it down. But I like a few after that.

Revisiting Lost Highway in 4K. Had the criterion release for that one too. Finally getting around to throwing it on. Looks incredible. Hands down still my favorite David Lynch film.

used to dislike the second part of that film but it all came together on my second watch. Masterpiece
Funny thing is I wouldn't doubt if we'll ever have a "fair" election again, they wont trust us to make the right decision. Media couldn't believe what just happened, people didn't listen to them or the celebrities for once

Seeing Ichiko Aoba on Monday and listening to Windswept Adan again to prepare myself.

And a brilliant guitarist too. She makes such beautiful soundscapes out of very little, it's all tone and feel.

Trump ran American culture from Spring 2016 to Summer 2017

It was a counter-culture moment as soon as he got the Rep nod.
Not a good thing but it's true

Unfortunately also true.
Think Fidelio agrees with me but the Trump presidency was both sad and hilarious. A 70 year old man-child who openly mocked his opponents (and pretty much anybody he felt like s***-talking) who didn't know a damn thing about politics was the f***ing president and his position im office gave the far-right people let their true, bigoted views come out. Not saying all his voters were bigots at all but the hardcore Trump fans were a different kind of obnoxious. What a wild era.

Yeah we pretty much agree. Have you seen the Shane Gillis stand up special and his bits on him from that? I think he pretty much nails why he was both appealing and alienating. Also the skit he does for Gilly & Keeves where Trump is the only person willing to play Hitler in a Hollywood movie gets his personality perfect. Trump doesn’t want to actually be Hitler, he wants to be as notable as him so he keeps changing the script to make Hitler likable. The ultimate American populist narcissist.

I think the broader culture has sort of relaxed a bit. People have a sense of humor again and art/media isn’t as insufferably condescending. I’m just worried the next right wing candidate will be an actual dangerous fascist and then we’ll be back to 2017 hysteria x10. Naturally in that scenario I’d be more worried about the real material consequences of that more so than what annoying things are going on in art as a response to it, but still it’ll be both a scary time to be alive and a much more difficult one to seek entertaining distraction from.

I saw his standup bit. One of my favs
I'll have to check out that other skit though
One of the craziest things I don't remember was that Trump was on Fallon (or kimmel idk) before becoming president and it was an actual civil conversation. I think because nobody took him seriously to win is why he wasn't truly the butt of the joke until he became the pres. Crazy how media works

"Rand Paul is ugly."

He also hosted SNL before winning.
