The spirit of free jazz is certainly an influence on that record but sonically it’s operating under a different mode—which naturally pairs better with its moodier sections.

Love that song. It’s used so well in Buffalo 66. Immediately made me realize I was going to adore that film. Same with how that director uses Milk & Honey by Jackson C Frank in his next film The Brown Bunny.
