Revisited The Slow Rush. Still their weakest album but it’s better than I remember. I like the more personal existential themes going on but sonically it’s almost too upbeat for that. Some 90’s R&B influence on there that clashes a bit with the mood.

I’m not as familiar with 90s R&B as you but that’s just a bit of the vibe it seemed it was going for. I also seem to remember plenty of people making the same observation around its release. All of his albums are doing a kind of decade centric thing drawing from various influences from that time. This seemed like the 90’s one.

There’s a part of me that just doesn’t care what he says, like his bizarre incoherent political and social views just feels like the idiosyncrasies of a strange artist. He’s not even half as bad as plenty of cancelled creatives like Polanski, and even him most people still respect his work.

I think it only hurts people that look up to him as some kind of hero. Everyone else is just like "wow that guy needs help". Too many musicians and artists that I like have been revealed to be total s***heads so this stuff doesnt really affect me anymore.

Yeah, I'll still listen to his music. I've never been a moral saint to stop listening to artists because they're total f***heads . But I can't help but feel when I listen to his 2004-2013 stuff, I'll think 'this guy lost his f***ing mind'.

If you think about it though he’s just going the Morrissey route, which is just being a transgressive wacko. In the 80’s it was provocative to say s*** like Meat is Murder and The Queen Is Dead. Now to get a rise with people you have to do interviews with Tucker lol.
