The prequels were a far more nuanced and better portrait of political infrastructures than saying “good win one day, dark side win another day, let me capitalize off that”

Prequels also felt like a trilogy, not 3 separate movies with wildly different directions.

It’s honestly wild how it’s not even a niche opinion to say the prequels were better considering how much people hate them. Really shows how horrendous the new trilogy really was

Phantom Menace is not well written and a horrible follow up to the OT. They got better though.

The prequels were certainly more consistent and while I couldn't care less if I ever saw TFA or RoS ever again I think The Last Jedi is the best Star Wars movie since The Empire Strikes Back

Episode 3 is great but 1 and 2 were overloaded with so much dumb boring s***. There are some undeniably cool scenes though, like the lightsaber duel in TPM

My father and I’s jaws were on the floor. Still one of the best moments of recent movies.

Just from a visual standpoint the movie is endlessly entertaining

There’s some neat shots but visually he wasn’t doing anything that ambitious. Lucas was constantly trying to push the medium forward. Bringing back old Hollywood sensibilities and pairing it with new digital experiments was truly radical.
