Best decade for rap
Lotta great electronic/pop stuff
The female singer songwriters f***in killed it
And personally, I've been finding some great metal albums the last few years
It’s not the best decade for rap by any means. Not to sound like an old head but half of these new artists people overhype are d*** addicted morons who don’t have an artistic bone in their body who get by simply by having interesting producers. I feel there’s been an over corrective response in the last decade to annoying “real rap” dorks who care only for technical ability. There’s so much disposable junk rap in the 2010’s.
My old list sucks. I just don’t have much enthusiasm for that decade. It’s the first time where nothing felt truly exciting to me outside of a handful of albums.
This seems mad to me. We were all mostly in our teens and 20s for the whole decade so if you paid attention to new music at all it has to have been a pretty formative time for your taste right? I've got so many albums from the 2010s that are intrinsically tied to important points of my life, I feel like it's definitely the most personal decade list for me

I think that’s another part of why I don’t like going back to them. They don’t reflect positive memories and when they do it makes me sad they’re gone.

Decade literally has innovative rap artists in every field/sub genre of rap and your dismissal of these 'drug addicted morons' is nitpicking the bottom of the barrel of a naturally oversaturated era because of the internet.
Great albums from
Kanye
Danny Brown
Vince Staples
Earl
Tyler
El P
Killer Mike
RTJ
Billy woods
Freddie Gibbs
Lil Peep
Young Thug
Future
ATCQ
Lupe Fiasco
Death Grips
Kendrick
Lil B
Pusha T
Big Boi
JPEGMAFIA
CLPPNG
Lil Ugly Mane
A$Ap rocky
Dave
Shabazz Palaces
This isn't even mentioning some of the bigger artists who I may not personally love plus a s***load of artists who may not have classics but still have good stuff. How many from my list would you consider talentless d*** addicts who rely on good production? Cause you sound stupid as f*** right now

There's beauty in the pain
This f***in beat my gawd
All these albums are ones I really enjoyed for a couple weeks then never went back to. I should revisit
There's beauty in the pain
Felt this today going through Yeezus era
life was good

It’s a solid list, I’ll give you that. As much as I like Future and Young Thug the idea that they’re like unique artists with ideas is very funny. I’m picturing Future thinking about how he’s going to structure his album lol

The beats are always a+ and ridiculously complex. I guess it really depends on your personal opinion on El and Mike

I’ve never really thought this was as big of a negative as people make it out to be. Not all music needs to be a recurring part of your life, it can hit for a short window and it was successful as art for that reason.

Young Thug is one of the most unique rap artists of the last decade. He started as a Wayne clone but quickly abandoned that and built his best musuc around some very impressive and really creative vocal performances... most lyrics aside
but that's why the decade is great, cause theres something for everybody
Oh ok I feel the opposite of this lol. Most exciting decade for me after the 90s I think.
especially when you include mixtapes
2018 was so f***in personally painful and I still love a bunch of albums I found during that time

Yeah true I guess, Kendrick albums are all like that for me as well

Jesus Christ same

I think I just generally lost interest with the genre around like 2017. I really love 2011-2014 though. 2010 is pretty bad outside of a few records.

@RASIE boo this man for his Future and Thugger disrespect

now I gotta see your list to see what you thought was exciting
