Nay
how many listens do you plan to give preservation act 2
Eric’s process would make more sense to me if he went through a discography at a normal pace first and then marinated on the albums in order after.

I've done that but even that's more focused than how I usually get into a new band

I went through the initial classic era at a normal fairly fast pace but now I'm going through the iffy era there's no big rush. Same with Dylan and Neil and other dinosaurs with huge discogs, you get bogged down once you get to the iffy stuff if you're trying to check out a new one all the time.

Only listened ten times since March so probably not till winter maybe spring
5 years
That's happened with a few people that I just forgot to carry on with lol
I respect the marinate lifestyle. It probably makes changes in style across an artist's career even more pronounced tbh
Never heard this somehow. Ray so passionate.

Damn Refelson was a real one
Yeap
Just had to pause Five Easy Pieces to check where it was made cause the terrain looks so familiar and indeed it was filmed largely around my hood
didn't notice last time

@Elric thought about you last week but forgot to mention it here.
We got a decent used entertainment center for our new place from an estate sale, and when I was putting it together I noticed it has a pretty cool feature included (which also immediately told me when it was made):

Built in 30-pin dock for iPod Classic/Video models, and the underside has S-video and aux ports so you can wire the dock to your TV/stereo system, then just drop your ipod in whenever and play.
Now i'm conflicted... I'm very tempted to relive my glorious iPod Classic days and but one of those aftermarket 1TB upgraded Classics and actually use it for at home listening. But it'd also be super easy to replace the 30-pin with a Lightning and just use my phone.
the best moment of his entire presidency
Nah this is still the top 1 moment out of that whole era that has stuck with me. Her reaction and the crowd's uproar lmao.

I know he did s*** like this thousands of times in debates, but to me that 17 second clip is a perfect summary of Trump's entire ethos from the campaign trail to leaving office. American politics brought to you by the Bravo TV. Calculated absurdity.
when you can clearly be a f***ing horrible person and half the country thinks its amazing and hilarious then yeah its a f***ing super slippery slope. once or twice a century type cult of personality truly dangerous.
Once or twice a century personality for sure.
I'll be shocked if we see another political figurehead in our lifetime that ignored every tradition and expected behavior of political theater, and instead treated it like their own personal Mean Girls burn book. Trump definitely had his predecessor's, but I think it peaked with him. He basically saw pop-culture's treatment of Nixon and said "I can top that".
Especially when the number of Republicans who denounced/criticized Trump as his presidency went on only increased. Now there are candidates molding their whole campaigns around "getting back to respectability". They still have s***ty ideals, but they're trying to channel docile Reagan energy. But I don't know if that can work in their favor so soon after Trump's "i dont care and people love me for it" marathon.
But idk what other choice they really even have tbh. If Trump somehow doesn't end up running in 2024, i feel like his voters would be more likely to put their support behind a line-in-the-sand Libertarian or something instead of yet another Romney clone Republican
rip Rafelson

Watching the Trump "you'd be in jail" and this CNN clip back to back is a great time capsule of that 2016 fourth quarter. Just wild bullshit flying around everywhere lol. Both happened just a couple weeks apart too.

"Also interesting is, remember... it's ILLEGAL...to possess, UHHHHHH..."
💀💀!!!
An interesting thing about this is... curbstomps the bullshit accelerator and flies off a cliff

For so long I thought Elton John was added to it as a meme but it’s just really playing in the background.

Lmaooo why is it playing?? He's on a runway getting into a jet. Does he usually have speakers set up to play him off stage with dad rock as he exits?

Yeah he does. A couple artists have tried suing him for it lol
“Wow, I didn’t know that, uh you’re just telling me this for the first time”
His slow slouched walk to the plane as Elton sings "ballerina, you must've seen her" is incredible lol. So perfectly in sync that i wouldnt be surprised it if was pre-planned and choreographed
