@Koala The most accurate description i can give is that my grandpa is literally Frank Costanza in real life, and often even more exaggerated than the TV character

I’ll have to check it out
Revisited Dark Side of the Moon for the first time since I was a teen. I really didn’t want to go in being like “ugh actually it’s overrated”, but it kinda is. I know this is like standard opinion in here but I really try to avoid doing that s***. Only the song “Us and Them” is some truly transcendent s***. “Time” still probably would be if it wasn’t so overplayed. I think the whole record has just kinda been hammered into culture so hard that it’s lost any power it ever had. I’d be glad to avoid the song “Money” for the rest of my life.
Time is lowkey a cover/interpretation of Little Wing. Even the guitar solos are similar.
The album definitely has it's great moments even though I think it's very overrated.

I hear it but I think melodically they’re dramatically different. Also just in terms of like their general atmosphere and mood.

Not necessarily in specific melodic progression but many important cues are similar. Also, atmosphere wise Time is embedded in that DSotM-style coldness, which Little Wing lacks, but otherwise I'd say it's also similar there. Then again, I like both songs

It's honestly kind of a miracle that they managed to follow such a instant worldwide smash hit with 2 deeply inspired great albums. And The Wall is good too.
But generally I feel like the strength of most their work before and immediately after DSOTM makes it even easier to view that album as overrated.
It's unfortunate but true that virtually any product that infects pop-culture around the globe like DSOTM did (and continues to do) inevitably adopts the notion of being overrated. But in Floyd's case, the quality and creativity of their other s*** is the closest thing to "evidence" beyond just invoking mass consumption hivemind
4th best pink floyd album but its still fire for me
also one of the best produced albums imo
4th?
Whats your top 6, genuinely curious
finally getting around to a relisten of this new Organ Tapes and mannnn this s*** is awesome
also anybody else love Beach House’s first 4-5 albums but are weirdly disinterested in their new music?

Loved their newest album tbh, but I can understand why someone would feel this way

Piper, Saucerful, and WYWH def my top 3. But Animals, Umma, and the Wall are all great to me

Honestly never got into them out side of a few songs from teen dream and bloom. Its not that i necessarily dislike them, i wwas just never interested in sticking with them. Feel the same way about Pavement.
NGL I really don't like The Wall at all, so I think I'd take DSOTM over it. First 2 and WYWH are top 3 tho

I like the new ones but yeah nowhere near as much as the early records. I think when you're treading such familiar ground for so long things are bound to start sounding a bit less exciting
