Yeah and Van Halen and Ozzy

Adrian Belew was almost like Bowie's Randy Rhoades for a bit there didn't realize he started with Zappa and quickly worked with Heads after

Dude was a crazy guitar robot

yeah he also contributed some vocals to one of Zappa's most underrated songs and a few more

thoughts on his Bob Dylan impression at 1:24 on this one? (dont expect you to listen to the whole song)

fine ill give you the benefit of the doubt cuz i havent heard Ozzy's late 80s albums and maybe he incorporated some glam on them.
and Van Halen clearly one of the biggest influences to the glam metal genre even tho they werent glam metal

I absolutely hate David Lee Roth so I don’t like anything from Van Halen. Gotta be one of the most annoying vocalists ever. I’d rather listen to the stuff with Sammy Hagar tbh.

Van halen is an archetypal hard rock band and Ozzy, like Sabbath is heavy metal/hard rock

    this sounds dumb and wrong

I thought you were going to pull up some hardcore subgenres on me not throw them under the lame general hard rock umbrella

i like some of their stuff (mostly the s/t) but yeah I'm not a fan of him either. more tolerable with some of the prominent backing vocals they had that almost sang most of the chorus sometimes

There was clearly a news style and era of metal ushered in with Eddie and Randy and I'm pretty sure it's not just "hard rock"

i mean theres no deeper subsubsubgenre but if you want to get specific Van Halen is a typical late 70s-early 80s commercial hard rock style band. pop and metal elements

but easiest way to describe is "hard rock"

lame? its lowkey rock's greatest subgenre or at least one of the core ones

Was definitely under the impression all that was glam or hair metal, if only so you don't confuse it with any of the other "hard rock" which has existed since like 1967

Ozzy is metal too (and more prominently). nothing wrong with being both heavy metal and hard rock at the same time

Van halen had a few metal songs for sure, but you just wouldnt call them a bonafide metal band. and yes Eddie influenced literally how every glam metal band played but they were more the precursor band

the way i divide it more is talking about commercial vs. underground hard rock

or just specifying 80s hard rock
