Yeah I know I'm just not really here for a lot of these singers and show off guitarists
I'm real picky about singers in any genre
i think you could definitely get more into black metal and black metal adjacent stuff if you get used to the vocal style. pretty much 0% "show off" guitar in it too rdjeyeroll
i think someone itt already recommended you Agalloch? not strictly black metal at all but more on that side and its been really sinking in for me lately, majestic
if Patton is too operatic for you I'm not sure you'd like Queensryche. Thought about them because of Priest and Maiden but here's a highlight.
!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zqAZP0aZGvgyeah i dont see him liking Queensryche because of the vocals. but i was surprised by him liking Halford so much so you never know
Elric loving Priest so much gives me more hope that he'll like more because theyre a blueprint for the genre (and specifically "heavy metal") more than even Sabbath in a lot of ways
It seems like a good time
they go crazy for it in Europe. i doubt we even have anything like that in USA but if you watch crazy huge concert videos on youtube theyre always in Germany or something

I guess Power Metal is extremely popular here among Metal fans. Many German metalheads call Blind Guardian one of the best Metal bands in general.

Have you ever been to Wacken?
Oh yeah duh also Metallica was the first rock and roll band I listened to when I was a little raphead and they were pretty life-changing
one of my first concerts as well
hip hop was your gateway too?
Todd Rundgren is underrated
only have listened to Something/Anything but it's fantastic. I Saw the Light is an absolutely perfect pop song
never really understood why some albums don't have the "singer/songwriter" tag on RYM when it's released under a single name
do yall consider Kyuss rock or metal
both
but they definitely have some stuff i wouldnt quite consider metal probably. like its definitely on the less pure metal side than some other stoner s*** like Electric Wizard

you need to get on his masterpiece a wizard/a true star

RYM tags usually not that good anyway but i think its because singer/songwriter also kind of (broadly) refers to a specific type of sound in a way. and it wouldnt be very useful to give the tag to every solo artist who wrote and sang their songs
like I don't think it would be very useful to have Todd Rundgren, Prince, Stevie Wonder albums under the "singer/songwriter" genre even though they are singers and songwriters
the wild card games this year look great, LV vs Cin
that’s gonna be a fun game. Burrow and Carr going at it

yea that makes sense, like soul/funk would be Stevie's main tags but I think that all of them should at least have the singer/songwriter tag as well

He would totally dig Agalloch, I mean imagine experiencing the Canadian winter and not throwing on The Mantle
do yall consider Kyuss rock or metal
Kyuss is stoner metal
Qotsa is nu-dad rock
I think only me and @Riffwanker like those boys

Oh yeah duh also Metallica was the first rock and roll band I listened to when I was a little raphead and they were pretty life-changing
one of my first concerts as well
Who were your first rappers?
Metallica one of my first bands too
Wore the hell out of Black Album before middle school
I'm basic obv compared to riffsquad
Sabbath probably my favorite band of the '70s and Priest one of my favorite bands of the last couple years
I used to jam Maiden in high school but never found another song that got me off like Wicker Man
Always like the sludge metal riffsquad shows me and bought some Electric Wizard. Recently Jane's Addictions mixture of funk and metal has been blowing me away
A lot of it doesn't hit
It’s gonna be a shame Nothing’s Shocking prob won’t make the ‘80s list
