idk Neil, Dylan, Stones etc can all be pretty mean
but whereas they could self-deprecate it feel like Frank just
everyone
the rest of that accurate tho i guess

what do you mean lyrics
its a very wordy album
the underground hippie scene was well underway by '66
the Fugs and that type of thing
i didnt say the way he sang i said the way he lays them across
doesn't matter who's singing. ugly melodies. intentionally probably but still.
i gave more of his albums a further marination than you think, made it passed Weasles Ripped My Flesh but not much. S*** is not for me. If you aren't gonna be offended by my reactions than by all means keep trying as we go through the years
lyrics on Freak Out to me are not important at all lol
like i dont hear this and feel the need to really value the lyrics. its just bs
"Wowie Zowie, your love's a treat
Wowie Zowie, you can't be beat
Wowie Zowie, baby, you're so neat
I don't even care if you shave your legs
Wowie Zowie, baby, you're so fine
Wowie Zowie, baby, please be mine
Wowie Zowie, up and down my spine
I don't even care if you brush your teeth"
and i actually find some of the lyrics on Trouble Every Day outright corny tbh. im also not one of the people who finds him a genius satirist or anything. We're Only In it for the Money i just like because of the music, i dont find any of the lyrics that clever or hard hitting like its stans do
need you to show me some non-yardbirds songs released before March 1966 that were trippier Brain Police
and yes I am going to force you to endure the 25 minute attempted comedy live disaster known as Billy the Mountain in hopes that it will make you reconsider the other Zappa thinking "yknow maybe this isnt so bad after all". i actually wont make you listen to that one its just too painful

i feel like Dylan definitely
on everyone too right? but maybe just more in a disregarding way than an outright a****** way where he wants them to feel bad for even existing

Wowie Zowie absolutely blows Obladi Oblada out of the water, zero competition whatsoever for the most annoying song of all time

He has some scathing lyrics but just the amount of compassion and empathy conveyed through his singing and lyrics on the basement tapes and blood on the tracks and another side and freewheelin etc etc are on another level
You can't write blowin in the wind if you are a pillar of salt that just looks down on mankind

it got a prime placement on lord aruji's 1966 list

you gotta learn how to block out the lyrics for certain artists. lyrics only matter if you pay attention to them

Kim Fowley The Trip came out early '65 and would be an easy target for Frank although weren't the Mother involved with it?

yeah Dylan feels more misunderstood sometimes but i can accept full well that FZ was actually straight up mean and would totally hate me if I ever met him
also feel like it only hardened his distaste and cynicism to the general public after the crazed fan pushed him off stage into a pit and literally almost killed him in the early 70s. also had health problems throughout his life even back in childhood, i feel like all of that maybe contributed to how cynical of the world tbh

Why you refusing to do their '66 stuff with me

yeah he was associated with the Mothers via the LA scene and took part in the Freak Out sessions
he was credited with the "hypophone" and zappa said "The hypophone is his mouth, 'cause all that ever comes out of it is hype"
attentive ass ears
Only when someone is relentlessly laying clearly sung words on me. Barely have a clue what some singers like Thom of Cocteau Twins are saying alot of the time. Even Jagger.

ok fine i guess ill dl Would You Believe? then

It's funny because I had no idea Frank was going through a divorce and real heartbreak when he made that album and just from the way the songs are laid out across makes me feel like he's just making fun of every other idiot who's trying to get laid or fall in love out there.
like dang man.
