oh, yeah ive been meaning to watch that one next too but havent quite got to it. i think the ending is supposed to be good or something idk. its apparently a legendary (life changing??) show
lol it’s cool, kinda overrated
f***, even that show has that bullshit?
Yee... felt like just some occasional weird s*** but it feels like every episode has some weird s*** now.

This how I'm getting right now. Not a bad watch but it's got some issues
Most of the episodes have pretty much had the same premise so far too
AS SOON as I posted this, the same s*** is happening in the current episode I'm watching
the final few episodes better be f***ing Godly

tbh Gurren Lagann is the real GOAT mech anime, should’ve just watched that

I'm watching cause I promised a friend a long time ago. It's only 1 season so I'm fine with it. One positive is every character has a very distinct and unique personality. So the interactions between characters are usually interesting

yup you’re right. that’s one of my fav parts of anime in general, the normally fairly distinctive characters interacting with one another.
ah so you don’t normally watch anime and aren’t looking for recs, i gather?

I have a few shows I wanna watch before I do another anime. I'll hit you up if I forget the name of that other one you mentioned when I wanna watch another one
speaking of things that deconstruct genre, watched Unforgiven for the first time last night (shameful, I know). Might be the best Western (or Anti-Western?) I've ever seen.
Would agree if dead man didn’t exist. It’s top 2 tho
Movies intimidate me and this threads deep knowledge around the medium is even more intimidating that I'd rather just go on show binges
Fam rasie and ponytail and alot of us push golden era Hollywood as hard as anything which is like the easiest watchin there is. Intellectuals still wrote their essays about them but just diving into a Howard Hawks or Billy Wilder filmography feels amazing.
Gonna sound like a snob but i f***ing can’t stand anime. I’ve tried multiple series certified classics and just got nothing from them

Hmmm. Pass for now
shut up then
I never asked for recs
was just expressing my intent on continuing with TV shows before, if I do, get back into films. Sourness running through your veins for no reason

I wasn't giving you recs I was just saying alot of the threads favorite s*** is not challenging or intimidating in the least. p****.
i haven’t seen nge in idk how long. i can’t remember anything about it.

I was talking about the sheer volume at which y'all churn through films, not any specific genre that may be more palatable than others. If anything I prefer more challenging stuff, just need to be in the mood, which rarely happens

Some people definitely go through a big phase of hammering though all the big masterpieces as soon as you dip your toe into foreign films and stuff but most people seem pretty casual about it. Lately I can go like 5 days without a movie cause of work or a game or a book or whatever. I don't know what your morning routine is like but sometimes throwing on a very challenging flick first thing on Sunday morning or something is the best time to attempt it.

Morning flicks never been my thing. Pretty much exclusively watch anything (film or show) at night. For some reason I pay better attention late at night.

They hit more emotionally in the morning tbh

never did go that route. gotta figure out what exactly you like and go on from there. essentials are alright but sometimes you gotta do the work yourself
