    who is this?

Dressed To Kill imo De Palma's visually most astonishing film. Sure, the transphobic subtext is despicable but I can't deny that the film has tons of great misa-en-scène and direction in general. A full on Giallo but made outside of Italy.

Scarface is good but he made better films. Especially in the 80s.

It’s not transphobic either but I’m not debating that

He did say DePalma has no ugly shots David Thompsons New Biographical Dictionary Of Film

Yes and his argument is the beauty of it is as empty as the beauty that can be found in vile propaganda

Its been a real minute since I seen Dressed To Kill but I do remember it feeling like a tribute to his influences. Like p much all DePalma films haha but his softcore touch and bring out original milf Angie D***inson was a move in the early 80's.

Was was the start of his killer 80's run of clossics.

Was replaying San Andreas and never realized how hard the game was without cheats. You’ll have these like crazy long missions with no check points and you lose all weapons and armor if you die. Shoot through a building, save your pal, destroy helicopter, protect car, no mistakes. The idea of having to go and rebuy armor and guns and drive to the mission location and then drive again to where they want you to go only to make a minor mistake towards the end when they’re making you protect a car you’re not even in control of is just bad design. Even with cheats some of these missions would be unreasonable because it’s asking you to do things that aren’t directly related to your health. 3 and Vice City were totally fair by comparison other than their last missions. Later games are more balanced with better controls so they avoid these issues altogether.

I think they designed it like that to compensate for the fact they knew everyone was cheating tbh.

The only chance of me perhaps looking at this film differently was if aruji came in here and hit me with an essay telling me how it's not despicable but he just came in and agreed it's despicable so I'm going to go with my first instinct also got the cosign from my geezer mentor who was there at the time

Nah it’s a mission called Family Reunion. You have to save one of your buddies from a building while a swat team fills up the place from every angle and then you got to escape and blow up a helicopter and after that you get in a car that someone else is driving and you have to protect it before it blows up. I always suck at those on rails parts. Making it through the exhaustingly long earlier portion is tough enough only to f*** up last minute on the on rails getaway section sucks so hard. A simple checkpoint in between those two parts would solve the problem.

Nah he said the subtext could be interpreted that way but defended the film generally.

No he said it is that way

I read a interview afterwards where depalma admitted that it was basically pretty dated in its handling of transsexuals so I don't know why you're bending over backwards for him

She looked fine for an older lady but her lingerie booty in one scene was definitely an old lady booty. She was half a century old people age it's fine I was just saying.

A guy who wants to murder women every time he’s aroused by them is not a trans person. He’s a psychopathic cross dresser like Norman Bates. Neither of these characters are trans. The same way Ed Gein is not trans. Just because idiot psychologist characters in both movies have these exposition dumps towards the end framing them that way doesn’t make it what it is.
