I don’t listen to a ton of country anymore but this hit my shuffle and I forgot how good it was

Looks so dope
When I first saw that artwork years back I thought it said 'Sir Luscious Left Foot'
I was like what is so luscious about this man's left foot lmao, still have to take a sec to read it the right way

his government shilling is unfortunate but it doesnt make his movies any less awesome
as if Tom Jones performing with CSNY wasnt enough
heres him with Chet Atkins and Jerry Lee Lewis sounding pretty great lol
also judging from this id say Jerry Lees country stuff will be excellent

agreed
Rumble In The Bronx always gonna be the zenith for me just cause it has gritty 90s Vancouver standing in for New York
and i saw it in the theatre

yeah rumble and police story 1 & 2 are the best. i watched those a lot as a kid. my mom used to get her nails done at this chinese place and she would drag me with her, and they always had his movies on. i remember seeing enter the dragon there too.
my dad loves The Big Brawl. I should peep that soon.
hmm not sure if i've seen that one
apparently manfred had another less commercial band in between his big 2, just skimming through it seems alright, pretty jazzy with horns

!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AnHjW5l0584this makes me wonder how many country singer-pianists there are. cant say ive came across a single one

Ray Charles the only one I can think of
Works really nice
Ken Burns actually covered that in the documentary... Piano's were too heavy to lug around all the time and couldn't cut across the noise of a crowd as well as a guitar or fiddle

Oh s*** you're doing more thorough homework than me
only listened to a few jams (knew Jimmie for a while tho)
Crazy how widely those two are considered the foundations of country music now that I'm looking elsewhere. Seems like everyone that made music before the 60s grew up listening to the Carter family on the radio. Elvis, Dylan, Cash etc all give them top props. Ol Cash must have felt like he married a princess considering June was deadass royalty.

yeah im gonna go hard with the extreme dust, at least while my interest is so piqued. also feel like with such a traditional genre its a little harder for the even dustier stuff to seem as outdated to a newcomer, it doesnt feel like that extreme of a jump from Hank back to Jimmie. not sure how much I'll really be able to get into it (compared to Hank who I already love) but I'm at least enjoying it all on some level
got Roy Acuff and Bob Wills compilations ready to go too
