Foreign fans complaining about this make me laugh

We all literally support super clubs; didn’t know you were invested in the group of English players in their football system

Let’s at least be honest about the fact that sports is a business. How do you think they afford these transfers you cream yourself to every summer

    Neoliberal

Also if you saw the UCL new format you’d realize UEFA was trying to get ahead of the curve on this and make more money by having a bigger and longer competition 2024 onwards

The big clubs use UEFA as a platform but UEFA needs them for viewership too

Whether or not this takes off imminently is TBD but I think a league like this is inevitable anyway. Also very telling that all the big clubs said yes without consulting fans, managers or staff. This is the only way to bring profits back to what they were both pandemic or even more

no smaller teams get a chance now. it’s not based on sporting merit anymore, but who you once were and the money you bring in.

How is that any different to football for the past couple decades prior to yesterday tho?

It's greed in its purest form. Anyone backing it has no understanding of the beauty & meaning of football.

Merely a way for the rich to get richer.

By a large margin. Think of the magic behind the FA Cup, Leicester winning the title.

Just look at West Ham's season so far.

It's the Champions League but for the greedy & rich, backed by the owners of clubs who have no idea about everything the clubs have stood for since they were created.

I don't support super clubs only, I support my local club even more.

A club that won a major European trophy in 1967 & a club that will never get the chance to compete against the big players if the Super League happens, even though it was always a mainstay in European competitions and reached the 2nd phase of a major European competition twice in the past 3 years, this year - ironically - by knocking out f***ing TOTTENHAM, a team that will play in the Super League.

A club that raised or had a hand in raising players like Luka Modric, Zvonimir Boban, Mateo Kovacic, Mario Mandzukic, etc.

I know that the days when clubs like Red Star Belgrade or Steaua Bucharest could win the CL are gone, but there was always a possibility of smaller clubs doing great like Deportivo La Coruna, Monaco, Porto, have in the past few decades etc.

This project is a spit in the face of any f***ing true football fan & honestly F*** anyone that supports it.

Because smaller clubs today at least have a chance to improve and big clubs can fail. Look at leicester and barcelona for example. The super leagues removes that completely and makes those 12 big clubs invincible and makes it impossible for smaller clubs to ever reach that level

I mean, Barcelona won the Copa del Rey and have a good possibility of winning the league, I wouldn't call that failing.

West Ham as it stands will play Champions League football next season. It was only a few seasons ago Leicester shocked everyone and won the whole thing.

This whole 'football is the ESL anyway' is absolute bullshit. Taking away the merit of the game. Guaranteeing spots to clubs who don't deserve them. Arsenal, Tottenham and even United in recent years have failed to reach UCL spots yet get a guaranteed slot in this 'super league' for even more money?

improve by getting huge investments from overseas backers who pay slave wages and have terrible human rights records in their own countries

Football as a business long hasn't been the beautiful game you're describing
Leicester was a once in a lifetime anomaly, it was great to see but it's not to be expected, and their winning goes against the way the Premier League is already set up

  • Apr 19, 2021

So if Next season Chelsea Is in 5th in the Pl they'd probably just play their bench players since there's nothing to play for again

  • Apr 19, 2021

How anyone can deny this is beyond me.

You're missing the point entirely. That 'once in a lifetime' is the beauty of the game. The FA Cup has a long history of the 'giant killers'. By doing this bullshit you're removing everything, performance isn't based on merit - it's based on how much money the owners can pump in & perceived status.

The only motivation for this is outright greed.

This isn't meant for us. The coming generations would be fine with this. I'd imagine there would have been some improvement to by the next few years
