Who else you riding for? navy blue? McKinley Dixon? Billy woods? Freddie Gibbs? All these dudes just reaching towards an older sound, they ain’t doing anything new
Danny brown is just on Jane removers wave at this point. Tyler’s making dogshit. GNX is the worst album of Kendrick’s career which has been downhill since TPAB.
Like when you really look at the sounds that are interesting right now, it’s coming from Veeze (and even with him idk how the new albums gonna be), fakemink and esdeeKid. Everyone else is just banking on nostalgia
Samara Cynn and Chris Patrick having breakout years getting a lot of big cosigns and placements, Ghais Guevara literally had a Super Bowl placement. Zelooperz is great, Paris Texas toured with Tyler and dropped 2 great projects.
Kenny Mason is rolling out an album and is always fire. Mick Jenkins leveled up and is fully independent now. AzChike's next album sounds great so far. Infinity Knives & Brian Ennals are politically abrasive and both amazing with a unique style. Little Simz. I've heard a new song by Ovrkast at least once a month. Redveil just dropped a really good album and I loved Deante Hitchcock's album.
Marco Plus just dropped a deluxe. Mavi dropped an incredible mixtape and been everywhere. MIKE dropped two great albums. And that's just off the top of my head of the stuff I personally liked. There's so much more than just that.
GNX still in my rotation btw lol. Even you came up with 3 names interesting to you. There are so many scenes on fire right now. It's truly a great time to be a fan of hip-hop because no matter what you are looking for there is something for YOU

I’ll have to check those first 2 names. But Ghais sound isnt really that interesting and he’s been in the game long enough that if he ain’t got motion by now, it ain’t gon happen. Zelooperz biggest moment was working with Denzel Curry who’s an internet rapper. lol
I f*** with Paris Texas for sure, but even their sound is more inspired by electronic and rock than actual hip hop. They come off more like a fusion group than a hip hop one.
I like Kenny but he’s just a niche artist. Mick is just meh to me. Will give the AzChike a chance but GNX was trash and sounded dated af so idk. Redveil I’m not really seeing the interest plus I don’t like his voice. Little Simz is another artist who’s just reaching towards an older sound.
You def mentioned some names I haven’t checked but when I say the genre is dead, I’m talking about how there aren’t really any big sounds any more. You named a lotta Internet rappers and like yeah some of them I like, some I gotta check but these ain’t the people that are gonna define a genre. They’re not MF DOOM. They’re not Soulja Boy. They’re not Lil B. They’re not Uzi or Carti. They’re just guys inspired by older sounds and making music that reminds us of the past. JPEG was the last Internet rapper pushing boundaries and even then I’m not putting him in the same convo as the most influential internet rappers.

I don't agree with you on Ghais bruh when I made the thread on him he barley started getting any motion at all. He really hasn't been around at all yet and just signed to a label in January. He getting more popular
And yah I named a lot of "internet rappers" inspired by MF Doom. But that wave is rising and they sell out shows and put out quality music. If you don't f*** with that sound that's perfectly fine but the thing about hip-hop is there are so many different sounds and waves. Is there a potential mega star? Probably not. But I don't think the industry needs that or is set up for that at the moment
To me there's been too much great music to keep up with and that's what matters to me. Both new sounds and old
Can British people go back to making indie pop please? I hate y'all really trying to gas this kid unironically. At least 69 made actually bangers
I’m only warming up to this dude rn but being this close minded about uk rap in 2026 is dumb dude.
What beat is this

Ghais 100% is bigger now than when he started but like even then I just see his peak being an internet rapper who could get an 8/10 from Fantano and maybe BNM from Pitchfork. Lotta these dudes are just internet guys that just remind you of the past and ain’t pushing boundaries.
Which when I think of hip hop, I think of pushing boundaries. That’s how this genre has been since the 80s. New sounds, subject matter that could shock a whole nation, performances and fashion that everyone was trying to copy. From public enemy to carti, that’s what hip hop is. Playing the hits isn’t what this genre was ever supposed to be and it’s been going that way since Juice, XXX, Peep, Pop passed.

Are you mad that there aren’t big sounds or that people aren’t pushing boundaries anymore
Because both are happening and have always been happening. 2012-2018 was just the only time they happened in the same space

I think you downplaying a lot of those guys man. I definitely think pushing boundaries is very important but I don't think you need to be as influential as DOOM to do so. He wasn't even that popular at the time
I think having a very healthy underground is as important as having groundbreaking genre defining artists anywhere from Carti to Jpeg. Carti was really just an internet rapper at one point I never really saw him getting as big as he got but shout out him
Chet Hanks has been defeated 💔
