Who gives af how many stems something has. Most of Madlib’s beats would probably only have one stem.

Jacob Collier or Charlie Puth music 100% has more stems than any dilla, Madlib or dj premier beat. It means nothing

Let’s for an experiment imagine that on and on was sampled. It wasn’t played originally, none of that music was original. the producer found that beat on a record and chopped those portions out and sequenced it, it would then only be on one stem. Would that make on and on bad all of a sudden? I’d still love that song BECAUSE Erykah wrote an amazing song on top of it.

The number of stems or effort put in doesn’t matter. It helps, but I love both!

I love the f*** out of MIKE, Madlib, Alchemist, Dilla beats where it’s one stem. Expertly crafted sample sequencing to make an amazing beat solely out of an old records puzzle pieces

There are one stem sample beats that are harder than 500 stem overproduced modern dr dre type rap beats.

And ofc there are one stem beats that are boring and suck.

2words baited you into typing all that ngl

Anyone with 2 brain cells knows it’s not about how many tracks are present on a beat, it’s about the quality/sound of what’s present on the beat. If it’s compelling enough to be a 3/4 minute song.

I get you but use context, obviously when I’m saying is applying to these lazy loops alchemist be doing and isn’t relating to any beat that utilizes looping, why would you ever assume that lol. “Well actually a lot of songs use loops” yeah no s***, respectfully cmon. Like I said, these Alc beats be having literally one stem. Instead of calling it drumless or loops I’m calling it stemless from now on

except the track doesn't have one stem there was breakdowns in the song.

this production is just boring lol.

Yall just acting obtuse and making my argument seem crazy when we’re basically saying the same thing. Yall just took me way too literally. Alchemist loop style and the whole modern drumless loop style is just played out and not a good fit for badu

Obviously it’s not a statement on quality how many stems something has but the drumless wave has started to feel lazy. And the only reason I brought up stems is because yall were saying Didntcha know is just a loop when it’s a lot more layered than something like this, and I felt like it was obvious I was talking about this particular modern style of loop

Honestly at this point unless you’re Madlib you need some drums at least. You don’t have to be Jacob collier but unless that loop is insane please just use drums. It’s over

i cant lie im agreeing with you he has gotten super lazy i feel for at least since 2020. you can interchange some of these beats. low pass filter and removing the top end hes basically ovo40 atp

The Realest without the context of it putting Alc on the map is like one of his most boring beats imo so I still haven't listened to this song in full tbh

Madlib is on the same type time Al is on: at least three or four releases annually for nearly 2 decades. But there are barely Madlib threads when he does release. When there is a thread it barely gets traction.

But every time Alchemist drops it’s, “Man Madlib would’ve been a better collab”
