The ending is not satisfying
I had to google the ending after I beat him cus I thought I was missing something, but nope, the ending is super short and underwhelming as usual in Souls/From Soft games.
Who cares???? Why always this discussion.
People nowadays act like Miyazaki himself chains you to your desk and personally boots up elden ring and whips you everytime you use summons or strong builds.
You dont gotta be here but from Software wants to make these games like that and people take joy in their vision.
F***ing tired of people making this so complicated. Nobody ever brings up these complaints about other difficult games and genres.
i mean its pretty simple as to why people care: its not fun or satisfying to use broken builds or summons.
in previous titles you didn’t have much option outside of being forced to properly engage with the games mechanics. now that From are consistently trying to one-up themselves with boss difficulty with subsequent releases, while at the same time trying to cater for noobs by adding stuff like spirit summons, their game’s balance has had to suffer as a result.

Some people need to accept that not everything is made for everybody. For example, I know that Last of Us is not made for my gaming preferences. But I don't rant online how I need Naughty Dog to put in character action gameplay elements to appeal to me. Or Visual novels have a big niche audience. I won't go there complaining about how I want gameplay when the target audience is happy about these games.Nowadays media is made with universal appeal in mind which has warped society's perception.
If FromSoft didn't want to make the game easier, it's their choice. And if you don't enjoy difficult games, you are not the target audience. Its a really easy solution to this whole backlash.

this couldnt be any more wrong imo. i think trying to appeal to as many skill levels as possible is exactly why the balancing of this game is as messed up as it is.
the funny thing is they already executed perfect balancing on their previous game Sekiro. go play it if you havent and you’ll see what I’m talking about.

Its the arrogant attitude that everything needs to appeal to them.
From Software fans ate themselves alive for this dlc because its a nonstop clash between that they want to be able to beat the game in their little challenge run and be arrogant about not using op builds and summons and that clashes with them not being able to stomach the difficulty.
Its like going around saying you are only „really playing doom“ when you put it on nightmare difficulty but then blaming the game and devs for they themselves not being able to beat it on nightmare
As usual Its utterly bizarre criticism. Especially because these bosses fit right into the difficulty of the late game of the base game.

Sekiro is my favorite FromSoft game. Elden Ring is probably somewhere in the middle.
My post was not really about you because you seem knowledgable about FromSoft games. It was more about all these people I been seeing on my timeline complaining about things which have been staples in every FromSoft game.

Yet many people complained about the difficulty of sekiro which is the most harsh they have done so far because you actually need perfect parries.
back then the community laughed at people pointing this criticism out. Sekiro is their most unfair game they have made.

people complain about difficulty of all their games upon every release. the fact people complained about Sekiro is nothing new.
my point is that Sekiro didn't have overpowered magic, buffs, weapons, spirit summons or the ability to re-spec your character into something that could trivialise a boss. you simply had no choice but to actually master the combat and not play the game with cowardly tactics. this is a good thing because playing a From game with this approach is hugely unsatisfying.
im not saying Elden Ring should have no magic for instance, i'm just using Sekrio as an example where From didn't compromise on their philosophy whatsoever. as a result, that game has the fairest difficulty curve and bosses of any of their games. yes there is some extremely hard s*** like Demon of Hatred, but its optional as all their high-level difficulty bosses should be.
Sekiro doesn't have a Godskin Duo where you're forced to fight the same bosses you've already fought multiple times - but now with two of them of the same time in a tiny arena - as a mandatory fight for completion of the game. how exactly is it more unfair than Elden Ring?
This is why for elden ring you should just make the build you like and try to beat it like that cuz there's a ton of cheese
But learning the bosses still way more fun when allowed. Godskin duo is indeed the worst tho
i have an ultra bad take:
final boss was was the best fight in the game for me
you're forced to stay in the ring with them, stay in their face against your instincts, and learn their attacks or never make progress. felt like i was fighting isshin again
they have some broken ass attack hitboxes and i had to pull out all the damage negation i could, but it was overall a positive experience, cinematic & heartpounding fight.
some recommendations if you're going light armor:
Golden Vow
Boiled Crab
Dragonbolt Blessing
Opaline Hardtear
Dragoncrest Greatshield + Golden Braid
17+ fragments
you will very rarely get one-shot, and there's plenty of healing windows if you're patient!
that said, i don't think the dark souls style can get any harder than this
they need to iterate on the movement to help players keep up, return to bloodborne/sekiro style

Headless ape duo boss, 10 times fight headless and shamans and drunkyards.
I love sekiro but Im sorry that subgenre of From soft fans that cant shut up about it are just as terrible as the elitists.

every single fight you just mentioned here is optional.
and if we’re going to talk about boss repetition, Elden Ring is the last game you should be defending.

Sekiro having 3 bosses rhat arent recycled isnt the argument you think it is.
Godskin duo is also the only time you fight the godskins mandatory if you wanna precise and obnoxious for the sake of it

care to explain why its not a valid argument?
Sekiro has about the same number of non-repeated bosses as Elden ring despite ER being over 3 times in length. its a completely fair criticism.
Sekiro doesnt have a situation where you encounter a main boss hanging out in a random cave like elden ring does.

Because ER is 3x the length it's more justifiable to have more recycled bosses.
But comparing Sekiro to Elden Ring like this is a pointless exercise, like comparing Armored Core to ER would be, they are different experiences and design philosophies.
Sekiro and AC are action games first, ER is an adventure RPG first. Sekiro still takes a lot from the souls games in terms of level design and adventure wise, but ER is their most fleshed out actual adventure game, about the journey and spectacle while also having worthwhile combat even if it's less precise than Sekiro.
This argument about ER's combat has only hit this excessive level of discourse because of the DLC, which if you've played their other DLC's, you'll recognize that they always push the limits of the game's combat difficulty and frustration.
Edit: And frankly the only top tier frustrating boss in the DLC was the final boss because he has so much visual clutter. Rellana and Messmer were not massive headaches if you leveled up with the fragments appropriately and had a half decent build.
Lies of P is better than Sekiro imo
and as @Banana_Clip said Elden Ring is the be all end all adventure game version of every Soulsborne made prior

honestly, the repetition conversation was secondary and i think that guy has honed in on it because he recognises my main point of Godskin Duo being a terrible fight regardless of it being a repeat cant really be argued with. its almost unanimously agreed that that fight was pretty poor inclusion, but to me its symptomatic of where FromSoft are going. they seem to be thinking more about how they can make a game still challenging for those that have been playing for the last 15 years instead of thinking about how they can make it fun or interesting.
with regards previous DLC’s, of course Sekiro didn’t have one but I don’t remember Midir or Orphan of Kos being anywhere near as difficult and hard to understand as Consort Radahn, and that worries me about the future of their games. but we’ll see i guess.
