Is this his version of director jail
I swear bro said he wasn’t interested in directing anymore and that warfare would be his last movie
My top 3 games ever
Can't really see it in a live action format tbh, the story is so ethereal and relies heavily on lore, not on direct action on the screen, don't know how they'll adapt it
But cautiously in
will this be worse than Zelda
Listen if we walk away from a live action Zelda with even a decent film, we defied odds imho.
However, this and the Death Stranding film… we have actual hope for good movies
This is the second video game adaptation that A24 has picked up btw, that’s pretty interesting
whats the other one
do yall think he's played Elden Ring? i'm curious
“ In a Reddit AMA from a couple weeks back, Garland replied to a fan asking about his progress in the Elden Ring DLC Shadow of the Erdtree. "Love Shadow Of The Erdtree," Garland said. "I'm on ng+6 currently. Don't even want to think about the hours I've clocked up. Can't seem to stop playing. Still discovering stuff."”
Garland is a GAMER man
Last two movies were duds
Civil War is incredible. Potentially his second best behind Annihilation.

I liked Warfare
I liked Warfare
My reaction to Warfare is complicated. It’s a “good” movie— I just have some issues with it. I do think if it was a Garland solo directorial, as opposed to co-directing with Mendoza, it would be better. I wonder if Mendoza wasn’t on the project if some of my problems are still there.
My biggest problem with Warfare is (I’m going to speak vaguely for folks who havnt watched it and still want to)… the ending. Garland and Mendoza almost make a REALLY bold and powerful ending. They almost commit to doing something effective. And then, for me, it’s really undercut by the typical “thanks for your service hero’s!” credit sequence
If you’re interested in more detailed takes on this, Thomas Flights letterboxd review / especially some of his comments on his review really articulate exactly how I feel about it

Oh yeah I agree with that part.
Should’ve ended the movie on the pointless destruction left behind instead of the goofy montage of the real soldiers buddying it up with the cast
But ig Mendoza wanted to honor his brothers in arms, I guess idk

Nope!
elden ring is a such a mixture of feelings, its amazing, from just wandering and taking in the serenity, to intense fights filled with stress and panic lol, then also the relief and feeling of achievement after a boss fight, it will be hard to capture all that.
Garland a big ER fan. He on his 6th run.
Also we need tons of money for the cgi creatures to look decent.
I feel like there are games that better serve adapting, and better people to helm such a project as this

elden eing worldbuilding on star wars levels there are infinite stories you can tell in that world

I guess that's why I'm not too keen on adapting it, cuz everyone has their own experience/take on it
