do yall think he's played Elden Ring? i'm curious
If you peep his 1 on 1 interview/convo with Neil Druck for TLOU S2 promo, he’s definitely a huge gamer. Pretty sure he does mention FromSoft by name in here too. It’s also just a great convo, he’s a huge TLOU fan and says that TLOU surpasses 28 days later, and Neil says he was just ripping off 28 days later so it’s a wholesome creative convo

Dude worked on DmC (the reboot)
He also co wrote this which was kind of a forgotten 360 era classic. I bet if you play it in 2025 there’s a lot of Horizon zero Dawn in it

if he played then he experienced this moment so we getting a classic

honestly if it's done justice, this could really be a legendary piece of media. i mean what deserves a beautiful cinematic rendering more than Elden Ring?
This is the second video game adaptation that A24 has picked up btw, that’s pretty interesting
Didn’t he say he was done directing

I was laughing just looking at the title but I literally wasn’t familiar with his game cuz this one a classic

Bloodborne
Didn’t he say he was done directing
He said he quit directing because he doesn’t like a lot of the logistics and stress of working with actors, dialogue, getting a bunch of takes, figuring out the line deliveries and all that stuff. He explained that he just doesn’t feel like a director by trade/at heart and that he found that side of it unfulfilling. He mainly liked the actual visual work
He took Warfare because he basically let Ray Mendoza do all of that stuff other stuff. and Alex just did the shot composition, camera angles, shot styles etc. Mendoza dealt with the motivation and dialogue and basically everything else
So all this to say, maybe he likes this project because it’ll mainly be a dialogue-free visual/thematic showcase that will really let him just go insane on everything he actually likes doing
Dude worked on DmC (the reboot)
good game
Bloodborne
that too. Sekiro would also be amazing. tbh any Soulsborne game would really be dope if it was turned into a good movie
Can’t believe the leak was actually true
I like Alex Garland, but Elden Ring seems impossible to adapt for the live action format
This gonna be really interesting. It’s either gonna suck agressively hard and feel really disconnected from the IP or Garland somehow is able to find a way to cook up a left field cult classic

This would be the best outcome, keep it in the spirit of FromSoft and make it an abstract mood piece with barely any dialogue
Elden Ring lowkey a scifi about an alien invasion, also cosmic horror. This could be a retread of Annihilation
Great game and great director
Last two movies were duds

i feel like a lot of game adaptations are shifting away from trying to be direct story recreations and more so being representations of the ip in a new and different way that respects the source material. the story of elden ring is fairly vague and there are so many gaps to fill in it that i feel like it doesn't have to tell the story of elden ring. just tell a story in that world using the framework that is already laid out in the game
