s***work isnt perfect and is dangerous isnt dated in any single way
go look at the statistics lol
Without spoiling it you know “sex work is dangerous” is a muted point halfway thru or by the last third. More so becomes “you will lose yourself/reality in s***work” and that is a silly concept to try to apply in 2021, nobody cares.

prostitution still exists in 2021
nothing dated about this movie

Your lovely comments from around the world about #lastnightinsoho are making me very proud indeed, but not one frame of this film could be achieved without an amazing talented and hard working cast and crew. To celebrate just some of them, here’s some more BTS shots from the set from our amazing stills photographer @parisatag. More soon. For those of you have seen the film already and enjoyed, thank you x

Unfortunately didn't like this all that much.
I think the start had a lot of potential, but it was kind of squandered by the film's mediocre second half + disappointing ending.
I've seen some comparisons to The Neon Demon and I think that's a decent enough parallel. Both films kinda have the same storyline at the beginning, but Neon Demon wrapped things up WAY better at the end and gave an ultimately realistic commentary on that industry.
idk I REALLY wanted to like this
The main girls friend in this is my no.1 choice for miles morales. Dude conveyed being deeply good natured and caring in the same way a spidey does

Plus it's not like shorty signed up to be a s***worker she was kinda coerced / manipulated into the s*** lol
went in blind and my god i f***ing hated this. loved every one of wright's films prior too; adored most of them.
hard to talk about the reasons without spoiling anything but it goes past just bad into some weirdly gross and exploitive territories. first thing i saw leaving the screening was a girl balled up on the floor crying and i wasn't at all surprised.
genuinely so shocked by how badly almost every single aspect of this film was fumbled outside of that stuff, too. just doesn't feel like an edgar wright film at all.
so was it this bad ? or what
The scene where her vision ended and it was revealed that she almost stabbed that bully girl in the EYE??!!
The whole audience groaned and exhaled. I love those kind of theatrical experiences.
Last one I remember was when the main girls sister got slashed at the dinner table in 2020 invisible man
you need to peep Titante then
Walked in into this movie blind and enjoyed the whole thing.
I like dancing scene where Eloise and Sandie would trade places
was supposed to see this last week but missed my screening
but i got to see it today
i gotta say, lowkey Edgar Wright was one of the few people i never expected to be able to make a good feminist film but he really did it (with the massive help of his co-writer i presume)
tonally it's insane how different this film is compared to rest of his works, my theatre only laughed like once or twice which makes sense since this isnt a comedy but it's crazy to think of that happening for an Edgar Wright film
All the performances were amazing but Diana Rigg's final performance was truly phenomenal
she looks super spry in the film so it's truly shocking to me she passed so soon after this. RIP GOAT
spoilers below
Diana Rigg as Anya's character was fairly obvious but i must admit i didn't see her actually being the killer AND a serial killer no less. i might be dumb for not seeing that but it was a great twist imo.
that old cop was so creepy for no f\*\*\*ing reason dude :clapdead: it almost kinda takes you out of it but i guess the point is even the people trying to help the girls back then were s\*\*\*ty too
i like that the movie didn't explicitly say Anya's character was a bad person, it might be controversial to some but a lesser film would've put a damper on the overall message by blankly stating she was wrong, i aint condoning murder and the movie clearly isn't either and i like the nuance of the message
@Antidote you carried the f*** outta this thread lmao

that was sick
this film was very well directed
This movie was actually hilarious to me. I think some stuff just caught me off guard since I wasn't expecting comedy whatsoever.
- the rude dorm girl competing with Ellie's trauma and saying her uncle committed suicide
- when she's like "I don't want to fall asleep" and the bf type guy John is like "well... I could keep you up ;)"
- when she's in the basement of the pub yelling at the old creepy cop guy and it seems like they're alone down there for the entire scene but there's a single shot of this couple super uncomfortable at a table
- In the library when her bf John grabs her from behind and whispers "Ellie I got you--" and she freaks out and asks why he was whispering and he's like "cause it's a library :/"
The characters are so good a lot of these parts just hit perfect for me even if I might not have laughed if they were in another movie. I know there were more but these stuck in my memory from 2 viewings
Edgar been missing since Hot Fuzz
Bro Scott Pilgrim came out 3 years after Hot Fuzz
Hey I thought this was pretty good. I guess I wasn’t trying to outsmart the movie or whatever so I wasn’t really expecting the twists outside of the old guy not being Jack. But I really enjoyed it and don’t really get the criticism when it comes to Wright’s style? It was still as stylish as his old movies but with a new bag of tricks.
I don’t think it’s necessarily “anti-sex work” considering Sandie never wanted to be a s\*\*\*worker and Jack would use his power over her to manipulate her. Especially when these scenes are seen through the eyes of Ellie (someone barely over the age of eighteen in the film) and we are shown that her mind and biases can alter what she sees.

I’ve seen every film of his in theaters. I said when I said.
We are going to look back on this film in 10-15 years not because it's a timeless classic or anything but because it will represent some of Thomasin McKenzie and Anya Taylor-Joy's earliest big screen films in which they had main roles. They have such incredibly promising futures, especially Anya. It's unbelievable how talented she is
The film itself was pretty good. Nothing groundbreaking but I appreciate the message about s***work. Thought some of the shots were brilliant and the soundtrack was amazing. I have it at a solid 7.5/10
