808s, whether short or long tailed, and 2-step hi hats have been associated with trap since it’s inception with Migos and Future. but 2-step hi hats go back to the 80s and 90s, and 808 patterns reminiscent of modern day rap/trap/plugg/hyperpop-trap has been in hip hop since the early to mid 2000s.

This misconception of trap music is why people clowned TI when he said he invented trap music - he was a founding father of it, even if the sound was different.

This style of rap has been around since 2014/2015. It's not that it has no label, people call it trap. Ya just dont like that label just like the real rap purists that want "mumble rap" to be separate from rap
