    Album he lost?

Yes. 2022 he said in interviews that a 19 track album called “the people could fly” got lost. Once that happened, he then started working on the album that ended up being ‘SICK’.

“Initially, the Los Angeles-based rapper was going to release a different project titled ‘The People Could Fly’, named after Virginia Hamilton’s Black American Folktale about a group of slaves who use magic to set themselves free. But then the COVID-19 pandemic hit, “people couldn't fly anymore … People were sick”. Only two songs from those earlier sessions - ‘Old Friend’ and ‘Tabula Rasa’ - made it onto this album, after “supremely bad decision making" caused the computer containing the work to be lost.”

What sucks even more is he basically said in a rolling stone interview that the lost album sounded amazing

    “Why was that your goal?

Because I wasn’t about to catch myself doing the same s*** for too long. You can’t do that. I scrapped a 19-track album.

Because it sounded too similar to what you’ve done before?

Yes, and I ain’t going to lie, that s*** was like … I was rapping, rapping, on every single song. But my whole thing is grading things on the truth, you know what I mean? However expansive or detailed the truth is. The album I was working on before had a really optimistic energy towards it, but it felt gross. It felt political, like a mayoral campaign.”

I view Sick as kind of a palette cleanser after the SRS/FOC era

It felt good to hear Earl use a more traditional flow again on tracks like 2010 NGL

Even though I think SRS is a masterpiece and one of the greatest rap albums of the 2010s

I’m not a fan of these Uncle Earl features lately but hope that doesn’t spill over into the new projects in the near future (Voir Dire top 2)

  • The way some of y’all discussing that feature I thought it gonna be a 2 pack of ass but itt was decent though

Song in general is just decent tbh

Way too damn short if anything

I was vibing then it was over just like that
