you've heard of toro y moi and victoria monet fif
ngl even though the idea of releasing it as an exclusive is not that great I def feel it got overblown on reddit and everywhere else. it's not behind paywall and easily accessible as zip itt and prob anywhere else, so is that really that big of a deal?
this isnt the first time an artist releases something outside of streaming and one thing Im glad they did (and what everybody who tries this rollout should do) is that they didn't put it behind paywall. getting in bed with nfts is dumb but complaining about zips when its definitely not the first time something like this happened (and that it also wasn't botched and paywalled like Black Star's album for example) just takes away from checking out the music, at least in my opinion
Gen Z will never understand the art of going on Google and searching up “artist - album mediafire” or “artist - album rar” / searching s*** on torrent websites
People acting like putting an album address on a site for free access to an album is the craziest thing ever

You got bad music taste bro, no offense
Good points, there is definitely a major disconnect between Earl and his fans as far as this “mystification” of his work
His comments in the Time Magazine Hip Hop 50 were deep. He said a lot of people just get stuck on his “vibe” or vocal tone but really that’s just some s*** he can’t help, what he really wants listeners to take away is his rap skill. But from my perspective, a lot of people don’t really focus on the craft of a work like this, I don’t think people really get Al and Earl’s approach.
People probably didn’t understand the obvious meaning of Some Rap Songs, is that’s all this s*** is to him. Just some raps and beats
When he said, "Bro, if you listen to my music, 70 percent of my music is about being better than you." took me out

Wouldn’t admit that I never heard of Causers of This even if you put a gun to my head
It's wild that Earl said his delivery isn't a stylistic choice and he wishes he didn't sound like that

i was looking specifically at the names i didnt recognize let me get these jokes off
NFT release
I hope people don’t run with this narrative man
You can buy nft shares of the songs if you want some of the streaming profit but that album is completely free to stream
Man I want ScHoolboy Q to tap in with Alchemist and make a collab album with him, would be dope af and possibly be Pinata/Bandana level but that man is too stubborn not wanting to lock in with one producer for an entire album

its not just gen z too -- dudes my age are now acting like they wouldn't torrent entire discographies just a few years ago and still probably have those files on their hard drives
I get that streaming is convenient but god damn you dont need to be smothered by it like that

Has dude dropped an album at all recently
I’m not gonna pretend like I listened to crash talk or really followed him since he became a mature family man, but I haven’t heard of any new releases recently
When do we think this will be on streaming?
It won’t. Get your MetaMask wallet out and buy the NFT.
The $800k number is very likely and I'll tell you why. Startup companies get investors to pump in millions and millions of dollars. CEOs of startups toss money around willy nilly trying to garner a buzz. How else will people hear of your app that didn't exist last week? If you are trying to hook people on NFT's that drop when your album drops (actually the 1st good use of NFT i've ever seen, imagine ZelooperZ doing a painting for every song on his next album), you don't try and grab Adele fans, you grab terminally online 20-30 year olds.
Now look at it from Earl's perspective. He can get like $2k from streaming per month. We know these artists get pennies off the DSP's. Maybe you grab $50k off bandcamp and thats a high estimate. So would you take $52k with maybe 2k per week for a few weeks. Or $800k? I've done a little gymnastics here, I was super stoned listening to this last night

He released Soccer Dad last year, although he stated that the song is not gonna be on his new album
He filmed a music video a week ago and previewed a snippet of a song at the BOILER ROOM show, so an album from him is most certainly dropping before the year ends
