The way I interpreted it his mom was influencing his vision and spoke through Jamis to convince Paul that being able to “see” would prevent the death of millions and losing chani. But still he remained hesitant because he knew his choice would go against what Chani wanted for him, which was to not be the Fremens prophet. His mind was already set to go I believe, just Chanis reassurance helped give that extra push to head South
I’m gonna have to rewatch cause I swear the scene right before he was telling everyone to go without him and even yelled at Gurney to leave. But I missed that it was Jamis voice talking to him.
Also Chani reassurance is what he needed but he veered off from everyone to sneak off and drink the water of life
i thought it was cause he sees a vision of chani dead and realize he's f***ed either way they need the south or they will die
I must’ve missed the vision of her being dead. I didn’t catch that
She got trey Ds and I'm Harkonen
Iced out the chain like Paul ghosted
Muad'Dib I am god's chosen, the all knowin'
Only took a hit of that spice for me to start flowin'
I hope we don’t straight up start with a time skip in messiah and at least witness the terror that Paul unleashed to the rest of the houses

The theme at the end of the movie really stuck with me, reminded me of Hans 90s output
spice prolongs life so maybe he won’t age at all.
Forgot to mention that Paul and Timmy will probably be the same age by the time we get Messiah

100% how I felt about it, like his old style blended with his recent synthy stuff

i didnt notice it on first watch but pretty sure there was a vision and she's laying there dead idk gonna watch it again on monday will confirm
One part I was confused about was when they were all headed south but Paul was adamant on staying by himself then he touches the ripples of the sand and gets a vision and not only does he go south he agrees to drink the water of life
I couldn’t figure out what caused the huge 180. I know he had the vision and heard a voice talking to him but that’s been happening all movie. What did I miss?
I’ll have to rewatch, but I think his visions of Jamis helped him so much throughout the first movie so he decided to trust his advice here. Or it was Alia/his Bene Jesuit ancestors that convinced him.
“You need to see” or something like that.
this scene... THIS SCENE right here man...
holy
slow mo as he walked out and the crowd was chanting "FEYD RAUTHA" was hard as f***

Having that whole sequence so deep into the movie was soo hard. Don’t even meet any of those characters for what felt like hours

I feel like any other movie would’ve cut Austin’s side of the narrative in sporadically every few scenes to build him up, having two storylines building to it all coming together at the end.
Was such a bold choice to not show any of that until so much has already happened.
