When you got the winning formula, why change up for the hell of it? Why change up for the niggas who's going to trash the album regardless? Imo, he's making good music. It's nothing groundbreaking, but the s*** is on repeat because it sounds good. I gave CMIYGL a couple of spins, but was off it (outside of a few songs) once new music dropped. He took a risk, but did it pay off?

Are you a traditional hip hop fan? Nas isn't doing anything to push boundaries but KD2 sounded great. I wouldn't ask him to take any risk. Same with Jay if he wanted to drop

    for the art.

the same reason kanye, kendrick and tyler and other great artists don't get comfortable and complacent. to elevate themselves and the genre. And yes lmao, tyler's risk easily paid off cause it's way more interesting and refreshing than this album or anything that would fall in 'the usual'.

he's doing nothing outside of plays and making money which is going to happen regardless

and nobody looks to them to stir s*** up, they've always been traditional rappers and started when that was rap. rap and hiphop has grown bigger than that for the art. even then, they're greats for their skill at storytelling and wordplay

why would i listen to an album that sounds the same as his past two or three without any type of change or improvement? any type of creative should strive to keep changing and experimenting.

You delusional stans will stop at nothing lol

What’s delusional about it. That’s literally what happens in the song

People gravitate to him for a reason. That’s all I’m saying

His music is more accessible than Ye's

It takes a special appreciation for Ye work otherwise it will be off putting.

DONDA is not the album that's gonna make people look back at it years from now like a MBDTF it's personal and different.

It’s being streamed a lot because there’s a lot of good songs on the album. I still don’t know what my favorite is

it's being streamed because it's a drake album and he's one of if not the most mainstream rapper

he's the rapper ppl use numbers for to justify his ranking

Why are people looking for Drake to stir up some s*** and do something experimental? Lol I've never expected him to go completely left field. I'm pretty sure Drake's albums are paying off more for him than Tyler with his approach. You can say the songs on CLB don't sound vastly different (which is fair), but the s*** sounds good. His voice on new instrumentals with different melodies and lyrics are a formula for success. That's his art, making enjoyable music lol. It's an art to stay on top as long as he has.

Trust me, if it was that easy to do, everyone would be doing it

Nah, I'm streaming his album from front to back because the s*** sounds good lol. I enjoy it, so I'm going to keep playing it. He didn't become my favorite artist just because of his sales

Drake fell off as far as full length projects go because he doesn't have the guiding hand of OVO 40 the way he used to. 40 was the glue holding his projects together.

the lack of boi1da production on here too

i'm not expecting him to. you can almost easily tell what type of flows and songs are gonna be on a drake album from a single song. drake is not a rapper that ppl get surprised by when they hear his music. i'm not worried about what songs make the most money b, thats why i said drake is not an artist, he's just the most mainstream rapper.

tyler is an artist and doesn't want to be stagnant, his inspos are ye, pharrell, erykah, and he's not just a rapper, it's no surprise

trust me, any rapper that was already huge and wanted that mainstream appeal could. drake's main accolade is stream numbers. not skill, not wordplay, not grammys, not substance. it's plays and mainstream appeal

That's cool. It's cool to be different, but "different" is off-putting to a lot of people. I wouldn't blame Kanye if he wanted to make more accessible music, but Yeezus fans would express their issues. You can never win

"not skill, not worldplay". Are his lyrics going over your head. Outside of Kendricks, niggas not going bar for bar with Drake. The people who can outrap him only drop ever so often, because that s*** isn't necessarily easy to come up with. Hitmaking is a skill. Companies chase hits, but that s*** doesn't come easy
