FATD is almost a classic them it has tracks like this or IDGAF which aren't bad but they sound like features he was going to give away and ended up keeping the whole track. The Yachty song too and I actually like it but the album is all over the place
It's all over the place cause it's the book ends of this chapter of his career. For me it adds to it.
I'm hearing you but this entertainer needs to grow up things is so strange and recent. Drakes life is Drakes life wether you approve or not I just don't get it. Our presidents are name calling in debates and were asking Drake the rapper/singer/entertainer to grow up. It's not you I just don't know how to take it seriously. I'll never get it. Look around you. (All of us)
nah okay i get your point, hes him and he raps about his life whether we like it or not
i just personally wish he would rap about the introspective side of things and act a bit more mature, i think that would also help him maintain his audience which i think have similar feelings (critics mention the same concepts)

And also not applied to every other entertainer in history who has sung about the exact same s***.

Always here for introspective Drake. Also here for the other Drakes. Realest thing JB said about Drake in recent memory is there are a lot of Drake's and which one is your fav. For me all of them.

Fr fr. It's so out of nowhere honestly.
nah come on lets not act like other artists havent been criticized in similar ways, or about different but similar qualities in their life
March 14th out now
Vulnerable talk about generational trauma between his parents failed marriage and his expectations for himself / living up to those expectations for his son.
But he didn't cosplay as Jesus so I guess it don't count.
Yes. That was in 2018. That was 6 years ago. The last song of his album. Many thought maybe this was his transition to maturing. It literally felt like he was transitioning.
He's regressed since then.
It's all over the place cause it's the book ends of this chapter of his career. For me it adds to it.
That's a cool way to look at it but I think it would've helped if he called it a mixtape or playlist. Then the CLB trilogy would've been the last chapter closing and felt concise. Scary Hours 3 being tacked on doesn't help either because if it was stand alone it could've been the perfect transition EP. Calling it FATD Scary Hours Edition an album puts it on the same level as the rest of his discography when it just ain't

I think he does, his life just isn’t as relatable as it use to be. Think some of his best rapping in his some of his more recent projects

This is such a whataboutism.
What do the presidential candidates have to do with Drake's music content?
Just because someone else does it, how does that absolve Drake of these criticisms.
Just because he has a song or two a year where he shows some newer self reflection does not absolve him from saying corny things like the s***with you was average, I have had badder than you, the guy you're with now didn't score, etc etc.
We'll agree to disagree, but all these things are so ridiculously childish.

The world we live in looked at through a macro lens. Drake is a global entertainer who needs to grow up despite having plenty vulnerable and mature emotional content a person we (as a whole clowned for being sensitive) is somehow under maturity level in a world where Presidential candidates ( who set policy control world inter st social standards) are name calling isn't a what aboutism. It's me comparing 1 influential position in society to another.

This. People mocked and clowned this man for his vulnerability his entire career and now they want maturity. Even Drake himself acknowledges how he comes across. Literally just relisten to champagne poetry.

nah i get where you were coming from with the presidential thing, its not 1 to 1 but its influential people and it definitely feels like they've gotten "dumber" overall, but its okay to say we as fans have higher hopes and expectations for someone
and i know hes always been clowned for being vulnerable and for some that could steer you away from being vulnerable, but drake is very cocky in his songs about not changing for people or anything

The album is also called For All The Dogs. Like he's not supposed to be introspective when the theme of the album is for guys who are dbags.
I think he does, his life just isn’t as relatable as it use to be. Think some of his best rapping in his some of his more recent projects
I get your viewpoint on this, and it's totally fair, but I disagree with it.
I think he can rap about a lot of "relatable" things. It's just super hard to get that deep about things because it requires a lot of honestly. He always alludes to feeling empty, not trusting anyone, having all these accomplishments, money, etc, but still yearning for more. He always implies it. Okay, get into it then. But that would require a lot of self reflection. And honestly, a lot of regular everyday people have these same thoughts/feelings.
Is There More from Scorpion is such a good example of this.
I always thought the Pusha T stuff really pushed him backwards. That loss, made him really double down on the tough guy act.

I know it's not a one to one the presidency is more important kind of my whole point brother. If we're accepting that as our president why are we raising the standard ok our entertainment.

i mean, i feel like we're going to start arguing a different thing now,cuz now i would start arguing that we shouldnt let that be acceptable for the president either
so ima go back to its partially a preferential thing and partially that in society i would hope that we can have certain expectations for 35+ year olds around maturity etc
The album is also called For All The Dogs. Like he's not supposed to be introspective when the theme of the album is for guys who are dbags.
It's for all th dogs (women/bitches) who did him wrong. Are we seriously still missing this?

Yea I don't disagree with that at all.
But also the criticism of it shouldn't be that unexpected or egregious if your whole album's concept is being a dbag to women/overall.

Nah if Drake has to grow up, in the world where the presidents maturity isn't scrutinized as much as drakes. We have lost the plot. It's hard for the R&B soft loser somp to need to be more vulnerable or grow up when the president don't have to, I follow politics for real. I'm not drawing an abstract conclusion on pointing out how dumb as hell we are. Future can lie about doing d**** be the reason Juice WRLD even tries lean and then later due to that and complications indirectly dies from it but Future can still be on Heroes and Villains talking about liquid dope. (Future also major global artist pop cultural influence)
drakes fans have also grown up, he could get away with these raps when his fans were 17-22, but now the larger part of his fanbase is probably 25-30 and they dont have these types of problems with women (or shouldnt really)

We have been marrying less and been having more people be virgins longer in America for the past decade. Intimacy and Man - Women relations are at a measurable all time low. No I'm not a red piller. They are losers and weird. I'm talking about strictly data.
Yea I don't disagree with that at all.

That's fair.
Like why as a 37 year old make that the theme of your album. I get that. With Her Loss and this album it seemed like he wanted to talk his s***. But I can see how someone thinks that immature.

@fuego
His vulnerability back then was probably deep to us since we were super young. If you listen to that stuff now, a lot of his vulnerability about women is basically the same now.
Shot for me for example is a whole I made you, you aren't anything without me. You aren't gonna be anything without me. Basically what he says on FATD. FATD and his newer stuff like Her Loss basically has the same viewpoints he had on TC, etc just in a more angry, bitter tone.
So you are telling me 10+ years he hasn't really changed his viewpoints on women?
And I do think, everyone clowning him for being vulnerable/soft made him shy away from that and made him into the person he is today. I also think the Pusha beef really did a number on him too.
