I don’t think so tbh, not for the general audience anyway. Only for the people you wanna hear
That guy is so disingenuous when it comes to Kendrick. Most of Kendrick's associates and affiliates are like that, actually. Taking any opportunity to feed into their guy's savior narrative, no matter how much they have to stretch.
Yeah, sure, Punch, Kendrick Lamar fixed people's attention spans. It wasn't that the two biggest rappers of a generation had a battle, and thus listeners savored it and hung on every word, making an exception solely for the magnitude of the moment. That can't be it. No, people have been permanently taught how to pay attention again, and it was all the result of the selfless work of your man with the diamond crown of thorns. Never mind that the length of these songs was born of him locking himself in a studio and allowing himself to stew in his over decade-long venom to stockpile contingencies. The time spent per record doesn't feel like necessity or intentionality, it feels unhinged. Drake was forced to match that energy because he had countless people to address, on top of needing to appear like he was keeping up. There's something to be said for being concise, but Kendrick didn't bother. I guess when it's about being "the biggest hater", who needs an editor. Whatever. All that matters is that one man's rants and manifestos have apparently saved the TikTok-brained generation from themselves.
If you give these TDE guys an inch, they'll take 1000 miles. And too many suckers walk with them every step of the way. They've always sold people on Kendrick being the greatest thing since sliced bread, and his every action being a noble act towards saving the world. The same way Kanye sold people on him being a genius.
Alas, the day people stop buying into cult of personality assertions is the day marketing/branding as a whole stops working on humankind. It is what it is.
Song of the summer only for a week?!

eh it's a meme song
give it a few more weeks but the time it's july won't be top 10
how true is this theory that these NLU numbers may be inflated?
100% true. Especially on Spotify.

S***s a joke. They tried saying it's "the best rap song ever". Meanwhile in the real world

These are skewed metrics because these all white friendly songs. NLU is not, it's gonna be played in the culture for the rest of time. I can't even explain how ancestral of bop that song is

Every single beef song is already dropping. Rap was dead before this beef and it's still no where near its drake peak of 2016-2019. The public tuned in for the fight they been waiting 10 years for that's it lol. Punch dumb af.
All these songs already getting taken over by MDB and IHSH. Give it a few more weeks and no one will care and drake will drop an absolute hit maker summer jam album

NLU isn't a white friendly song?
Ive had 30 white ppl come up to me and say drakes cooked and NLU is the best song Kendrick's ever made (😂). Most of my friends who are poc say family matters is better and NLU just has a catchy beat lol
If you think NLU isn't "white friendly" you should go see the vids on twitter of white kids tryna learn how to c walk to it

..you think NLU reached #1 exclusively through black listeners only?

That doesn't mean it's white friendly
White people jump on bandwagons all the time, then desert it when they don't know what else to do with it
What I'm saying in terms of popularity and effect, NLU trumps every single Drake song in terms of cultural significance

Highly disagree but to each their own lol. Gods plan in my feelings nfw alone were HUGE cultural moments imo. White Taylor swift fans out here championing NLU just like they did NFW lmaoo.
