This doesn't matter. You know when you'll be getting the album. Pre-saves/pre-orders don't make any difference.

It's annoying but it's whatever. I just don't want to listen to the album and hear s***ty mixes. 40 releasing songs that have been mixed poorly is a terrible look for him because that's primarily all he does.

He could obviously accumulate pre-orders from people finding out about the album in the weeks leading up to release. They might not be huge additions, but there'd almost certainly be a little bump

It wouldn't matter. He's Drake. Even if he drops an album as a surprise, there's an entire week for people to discover there's a new Drake album and then either buy/stream the album.

Pre-orders made sense back when digital sales were still strong. Digital sales are in the gutter now and most artists can't move a ton of physicals either. It's artists who have pre-orders up for months and still struggle to move a sizeable amount of units.

If that 'there's an entire week and everybody will know by the end of the week' statement were true then there would be zero pure sales after the first week. But people buy in week 2 and week 3, so who's to say they wouldn't buy in weeks -1 and -2?

Again, not saying he'd somehow move 200k digital sales by doing this. But I'd bet he could squeak another 10k with minimal effort from a few weeks of an available pre-order. And it obviously would've been way more impactful back when pure sales were stronger, with Scorpion, Views, etc

There are people who learn about movies showing at the cinemas and don't go to see it until weeks later. Same with albums. I have albums I don't listen to until weeks later because I simply don't have the time to listen to them when they get released. Doesn't mean I'm not aware they're out. I just don't have the time to get into them.

Dawn FM broke the Apple Music pre-saves record but still couldn't amass up to 175M streams. That's how useless pre-saves are.

We already know how he works and know he won't be doing pre-saves/pre-orders so there's really no need for this back and forth.

This is also something i’ve noticed the last few albums. But mainly CLB. The mixing has gone downhill for 40 standards and i’m not sure why. Views was mixed so beautifully I wish every album sounded like it.

That's Drake's fault as well as 40's fault. Drake has an impulsive need to only work as hard as he needs to to finish up his projects when he knows he has to turn them in and 40 allows him. 40 could also demand more time to get his mixes right but he doesn't seem to.

Agreed. Views mixing was pristine, same with More Life.

CLB had some weird mixing/mastering issues. Fair Trade still doesn’t hit hard as it should be and the transition from Travis to Drake at the end is uncharacteristically sloppy for Drake/40
