What other direction could he possibly go?
The leaks are maybe not some genre he hasn’t touched, but they do sound distinct from his other sounds. I think an entire album in that direction would be something he hasn’t done before.

The hyping up of the album really only makes sense if it is dropping tonight. If it isn't (which seems to be the case), it makes zero sense going on and on about a forthcoming album that's weeks away from being released when all anyone really cares about is the music itself.
Well I meant more so the newspaper placement, QR code, “to accompany the book” etc. if he hadn’t did that and just was doing what he’s doing at the show I’d be indifferent tbh

I think you are underestimating that not all people are on the internet or "dialed in". Up on every little news bit.
Most casual fans just be like new Drake dropped? Cool, I will listen. Having not followed anything that has been going on.
