Yeah and whoever said that was right. WLR influence and impact speaks for itself compared to Donda and CLB.

An album being more influential than another album doesn’t mean it was bigger.

who sold 115k with WLR? and wlr wasnt a flop
And keef was not running the game in 2012?
hes prolly gonna sell 200+ considering the hype and numbers so far

respectfully he’s not selling 200k, even with the hype. that’s lil baby territory and there’s nothing suggesting he’s risen in the ranks commercially. if im wrong ill take my L

He’ll most likely do somewhere between 150-175K first week. 200K+ in this climate is a stretch

Noone is on top anymore. Everyone has his little group of favorite artists. There's no ruler. A Drake album gets forgotten in the public mind just as quickly as a Sampha album.

    this isn’t true

when drake is no longer the measuring stick for yall, that’s when he’ll no longer be running the game or whatever yall call it. impossible to say he’s not moving the needle or anything like that when yall pick a new name every year to say a ‘shift’ is happening. let the s*** happen organically cause none of yall predictions have been right

It wont ever happen because they keep trying to force it to happen. Thats the difference

im in clubs, bars, parties frequently the last few years. can tell you right now that Donda and CLB records were played way more than any record from WLR. even heard Donda played at weddings. only times i heard WLR is when i played it around my friends. there’s songs off of WLR i played last year around certain people who didnt even know the song nor album existed

I thought it’s always been understood that influence and popularity can be two separate categories.

For example, Kanye has always been seen as more influential than Drake but everyone has recognized that, at least for the past 7-8 years, Drake is the bigger artist

    Donda sold more first week.

All three listening parties set the record each time for most livestream viewers in Apple Music’s history.

The album went platinum in 8 months.

WLR took two years to even be eligible for platinum.

And it’s not a tracklist length thing, Donda was 27 songs and WLR was 24.

There’s literally no verifiable metric to claim that WLR was the bigger album.

    Was it more influential? Absolutely.

    But influence =/= popularity

    More chart s***.

When I see you arguing with Drake stans it’s “charts don’t represent the full picture” when it comes to faneto vs whatever random hit on views.

You are very dishonest and inconsistent

wouldn’t bother. the only people that think WLR is bigger than Donda in any capacity are people that live on the internet. and it’s a small part of the internet at that lol

You’re talking about a cultural hit record that dropped in 2014 as a mixtape exclusive at a time when hip-hop wasn’t dominant on the charts

    vs.

Two major mainstream rap releases dropped during the streaming era, both of which are 24+ songs long, and both were heavily anticipated releases.

Context matters. Donda and WLR dropped 8 months apart from each other. What other verifiable way is there to compare which album was bigger other than how they performed sales wise?

No your argument is just bad

There is literally nothing you can say to claim that WLR was bigger other than it being more influential.

To again, which I say influence =/= popularity.

Faneto isn’t huge because it was influential, it’s huge because it’s a huge cultural smash hit record. If you’re in your twenties and have been to any party since 2014, you have heard that song. Not a single song on WLR has anywhere near that level of impact

There’s nothing to dance around. You just fail to realize that different conversations require different context.

Faneto being a bigger song than Too Good by Drake has absolutely nothing to do with Donda & CLB being bigger than WLR
