Many Drake fans have particularly commented on the relatability of a number of his recent songs and have claimed that’s why they enjoy the songs so much - see songs like Tried Our Best, Bahamas Promises, Hours in Silence, Lasers, etc

A significant majority of his music still deals with nuances of interpersonal relationships - whether romantic or platonic

There are numerous instances of Drake literally engaging with his fans on the account of his music’s relatability - if you look at a You Broke My Heart in concerts, for example

You think people who truly relate to drakes music would beg for money at a concert? Drake is a hustler

I’m saying Drakes music isn’t that relatable. The average Drake crowd consists of rows and rows of people begging for money. You think people begging for money relate to his music?

You can't be the biggest artist in the world and not have relatable music but you did say that relatable, which is fair. Not all parts are relatable but each song has relatable anecdotes and the rest is good bars

If you've ever had women in your life especially your mother, protect and ground you, you will relate to this. Minus the crime bars and status reporting
Most of his songs are about expressing gratitude really

You know Fader is a disingenuous idiot because the main criticism about Drake's music in recent years is that he keeps making songs about dealing with women in ways that many men his age aren't dealing with women any more. That's not something that's AT ALL exclusive to rich people, especially considering the fact that Drake deals almost exclusively with women who are run-of-the-mill and aren't at all famous/inaccessible. That's one of the many reasons why so many random men can relate to his music — he raps and sings about women that any of them could deal with on a good day, even though they're not nearly as rich or as famous as he is.

People want to see Drake married or at least in a serious relationship and have his music reflect that reality because they feel that'd result in him making more "mature music". Majority of Drake's songs are about love and relationships anyways so how is that only relatable to rich people? And Drake has bragged about rich nigga s*** since So Far Gone — the very REASON why celebrity as an idea exists is because it's billions of people looking at the lives of people they can never be and getting some sort of satisfaction from that. That's why we love rappers — because they mostly rap about things we could never do or have lmao.

Nobody said his entire discography was not relatable. Relatability used to be his calling card.

We're talking about his recent music. Nor does that means we're saying every single song he makes nowadays is not relatable, there are still some scattered throughout his projects

Kind of like asking why Alexander Wang is popular. Good craftsman among sloppiness, purposeful and value driven, mainstream without compromise, constantly reinventing themselves and the mystique is cool

Credibility but not industry manufacturing is a cultural sweet spot

The majority of it is that though. Especially these days.

You don’t see the irony of a guy going to the Drake show with his chick and then holding up a sign for Drake to pay his off engagement ring or for his honeymoon?

I'd argue his thing was versatility, which he sorely lacks now

Same argument could be made for relatability yeah

You're coming from it as "Drake has lost something" and Divine is responding "YOU have lost something"

You both rank relatability at different precipices of an artist's toolkit. To me it's a lot lower than it was a decade ago. I can't grow with Drake (status wise at least) because of his life changes, so I look to newer artists
