    You described subjectivity…

The subjectivity in it for me is that sometimes I listen to music that expresses what I think but it’s emotionally not resonant with me (because art is magic not science)

It’s why we can watch a movie with characters that do bad things and feel emotions beyond just disapproval

We don’t need to be so black and white about things

If an artist is making music that is topically mostly touching on rich nigga s***, it is not relatable to the average person. That’s what was being discussed, not whatever it is you’re talking about

Seeing the behaviour some people have exhibited following Apple Music and Spotify revealing Drake as a top listened-to artist on both platforms for 2025 just further confirms how many miserable f***s really thought that Kendrick had managed to destroy his career

Relatable in the literal sense but what rapper makes “relatable” music for people that are in school or work 9-5’s like 99% of people on here do…

    That’s a non sequitur

It's a) just not true that all Drake music is about his money, plenty of people loved $$$4U cos of how relatable it was and b) you don't know anyone on this forum IRL and what they do and do not relate to. If you can't relate to Drake music more power to you but going off one lyric and one blanket statement and hoping for the best doesn't dilute the relatability of his music for me, or anyone else who likes Drake

We are not discussing the same things than.
I say his music is more relatable. and you bring up a "Rich" bar drake said.

The theme of his music is relatable. doesn't have to be bar for bar.

and im not discussing his last "5 years" im talking about his entire discog.

It's not a generality if it's based off one lyric and has more exceptions than otherwise don't backtrack now

It’s not based off one lyric are you crazy

    It was one example

Also I mean you don’t know what a generality is because you think the fact that some people still relate to his music means that saying his music isn’t relatable is wrong

I listen to Headlines and I sing along not because I’m a rapper that just got rich and famous, I sing along in the same vein of confidence

"I said Drake's music is not relatable in fact he said it one time so no one is allowed to relate to his music anymore. Also when I made an encompassing blanket statement I didn't mean it also no one understands generalities anymore"

Nobody is saying that his music has to be relatable to be good, I’ve never agreed with that. Good music doesn’t have to be relatable.

What we’re saying is that Drake’s music recent music isn’t relatable, it has nothing to do with the quality of it
